Group B at the World Cup 2026 gets underway on BETDAQ EXCHANGE WORLD CUP on June 12th when co-hosts Canada take on Bosnia and Herzegovina at BMO Field in Toronto – and the fact that it is Bosnia sitting in that fixture, rather than Italy, is a story in itself. The four time world champions were sensationally eliminated in a penalty shootout in the UEFA playoffs, another dramatic heartbreak in World Cup qualifying for Italy. Switzerland arrive as the group’s most technically complete side, with a flawless qualifying campaign and the quiet confidence of being levels above everyone else here.

Group B

• Switzerland
• Canada
• Qatar
• Bosnia & Herzegovina

🇨🇭 Switzerland (🔢 FIFA Ranking: 19th)

Switzerland qualified in impressive fashion, going unbeaten through their UEFA qualifying group, conceding just two goals in six matches. This will be their sixth consecutive World Cup appearance, and they have reached the knockout stages in each of the last three. They definitely had an easy Group in UEFA qualifying, but on paper they have an easy Group here too. Their squad is genuinely packed with quality from top to bottom. Captain Granit Xhaka (pictured below), now revitalised at Sunderland after his extraordinary Bayer Leverkusen season, is closing in on 150 international caps and remains the heartbeat of everything they do. They are marginally odds on to win the Group; trading around 1.93.

🇨🇦 Canada (🔢 FIFA Ranking: 30th)

As co-hosts, Canada received their automatic berth back in February 2023. This is only Canada’s third World Cup appearance and, after a winless showing in Qatar in 2022 – where they were eliminated in the group stage – the pressure is on to finally deliver points on home soil. All three of Canada’s group games are played in Canada, opening in Toronto before heading to Vancouver, which is obviously a nice home advantage. The key names are Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich and Jonathan David of Juventus, who will be the focal point of the attack. The Canadian public is going to be absolutely electric for these games, but given an automatic spot it’s hard to really have major expectations and on paper at least, however in a Group with Qatar and Bosnia, they are the biggest challenge to Switzerland.

🇶🇦 Qatar (🔢 FIFA Ranking: 55th)

Qatar make their first World Cup appearance as a non-host after debuting as hosts in 2022, where they were eliminated in the group stage without winning a single match. Their preparation for this tournament has been far from ideal — planned March friendlies against Serbia and Argentina were cancelled due to regional issues, and their last competitive action in the Arab Cup was disastrous, knocked out in the group stage at home, losing to Palestine and Tunisia. They arrive having not played a competitive match since December 2025, which is not ideal. Akram Afif (pictured below), who became the first Qatari player signed by a La Liga club during a loan spell at Villarreal, is their best player. Qatar will be massive outsiders; their best hope seems to be the game against Bosnia.

🇧🇦 Bosnia & Herzegovina (🔢 FIFA Ranking: 65th)

Bosnia’s qualification story alone deserves a film. They came through UEFA Path A, beating Wales and then Italy both on penalties. Most people will remember the Italian players celebrating the Wales penalty shootout – they regretted that! This is only their second World Cup appearance, the first since 2014 when they exited in the group stage. The squad is built around veteran quality – the legendary Edin Dzeko, even at 40 years old, remains a lethal aerial threat. It’s nice he gets a shot at a World Cup before retirement. Manager Sergej Barbarez (pictured below) focuses on a tight, organised defensive structure and dangerous counter attacks. They are not a free flowing attacking side, but they are extremely hard to break down and can hurt you on the break. They could easily sneak into second.

GROUP B BETTING PREDICTION

Who Will Top Group B And Who Will Qualify From Group B?

The Group B Winner market is actually very similar to the Group A Winner market! You have Switzerland around 1.93, then Canada and Bosnia in that 3.5 to 4.5 range with Qatar as outsiders. I don’t give Qatar any chance here to be honest, and I do feel that Canada and Bosnia are quite limited too. It is hard to argue with Switzerland’s position at the head of the market – their qualifying campaign was impeccable and they simply have far more quality than any other team in this group. I actually feel that the 1.93 is on the large side here to win the Group, and I’m happy with a confident bet on Switzerland to win the Group at 1.93 or bigger.

It will be fascinating to see the fight for second place between Canada and Bosnia. Obviously Bosnia were able to come through tight games with Wales and Italy; they can grind out results, but do they have the ability to go and win games? I wouldn’t be surprised to see Switzerland beat everyone in the Group, Canada and Bosnia beat Qatar and then drew when they meet. The top three could go through here.

Four points win Switzerland Group B Winner at 1.93 with BETDAQ EXCHANGE WORLD CUP
