SHAMROCK HEADS TO FAIRYHOUSE: After a third from his NAP on Tuesday, SHAMROCK today heads to Fairyhouse for his best bet of the day.
It’s a busy eight race card on the flat at Fairyhouse this evening.
The opening fillies maiden at 5.25 looks very much a ‘watching’ race with notebooks at the ready as there are a whole stack of interestingly bred debutants. Gussy Goose (David Wachman) and As Good As Gold (Aidan O’Brien) both have the benefit of experience but it would come as a big surprise to me if either were good enough to win this.
I thought Slipper Orchid looked a solid bet in the 6.00 and am surprised to see her not trading at shorter than 4 on BETDAQ.
She ran an absolute stormer at Naas last time when a 20/1 runner up to Tested in a Listed race over 7f. Listed herself was bouncing back to form having previously finished 6th in the Irish 1000 Guineas.
On that Naas form Slipper Orchid should again account for Elusive Time who was only eighth.
Hidden Oasis is the best horse on official ratings but has a lengthy absence to overcome and his best form last season came on more testing ground than he will face tonight.
Also prominent in the BETDAQ market is Intensical who looks the biggest danger. His third in the Listed Tetrarch Stakes was good form although his subsequent effort at Naas wasn’t quite so noteworthy.
Photo Call has run two good efforts to be placed so far and it should be third time lucky for her in the fillies maiden at 6.30.
