SUNDAY PREMIER LEAGUE: We preview both of Sunday’s Premier League games: Man City v Southampton and the highlight of the weekend Chelsea v Man U at 4pm.
Manchester City v Southampton
1.30pm We noted in our midweek Champions League preview that if Man City lost 3-0 or 4-0 to Barcelona they might find themselves in a min-crisis of sorts, now without a win in four – and while they played very well for large parts of the Barcelona match, moments of madness left them licking their wounds after a 4-0 Barcelona win – the question now is how will they respond? Well, apart from Southampton’s 4-2 win in May, City have a good record against them, they won the previous four before that and Southampton haven’t won at the Etihad since 2004.
However City do seem to be a shade short in the match odds market at 1.5 – Southampton have been on quite a good run, especially defensively, and if City start a bit low on confidence they will find it tough to break down a back four who have conceded just eight goals in all their games thus far this season. They were unlucky to lose in the Europa on Thursday night against Inter too, dominating for much of the game. All that being said though, City are still are an incredibly tough team to play against and while we don’t want to lay City in the match odds market, we feel that Southampton can start strongly as City look to recover from their defeat to Barcelona – we fancy laying City for the Half Time result at 2.1.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Manchester City 1st Half result at 2.1.

Chelsea v Manchester United
4pm This will no doubt be the highlight of the weekend as Mourinho returns to Stamford Birdge for the first time since being sacked as Chelsea manager. The big question is how will he view the game, what way will be set up? Obviously he set up defensively against Liverpool on Monday night but that plan worked a treat – he basically closed down all of Liveprool’s attacking options and they looked clueless going forward, if Zlatan scored that brilliant chance, everyone would have been talking about Mourinho masterclass away from home – as it turned out it finished 0-0 and everyone was saying boring Mourinho!
It’s hard to see him going all guns blazing here either, and we can expect a similar United set up. Chelsea have a very good record against United in recent meetings too, they haven’t lost any of the last seven however four of those ended in a draw. The match odds at the time of writing currently stand at; Chelsea 2.3, United 3.7 and the draw 3.35 – in such a big game and with United romping to victory on Thursday night in the Europa, Chelsea seem a bit short at 2.3 – United will surely be high on confidence after two very solid performances and with Chelsea losing to Liverpool and Arsenal already this season, maybe they are just short of matching the best teams. We feel there is value in the Chelsea lay at 2.3.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Chelsea at 2.3.
