IRISH CHAMPION STAKES DAY: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes at 6.35pm.
Aidan O’Brien has already tasted Group 1 success today with Kew Gardens in the St Leger at Doncaster and has four of the seven runners in the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.
Not the favourite though. That’s Roaring Lion who is set to go off odds-on to continue the recent domination of the race by English trainers.
Roaring Lion is enjoying a stellar season together with his pilot, the excellent Oisin Murphy. The combination have already won two Group 1’s – the Coral Eclipse at Sandown and then the Juddmonte International Stakes where he was particularly impressive.
It’s very hard to fault him as I think he is a seriously good racehorse but at the BETDAQ prices I prefer Study Of Man for one of the three places up for grabs.
He’s 1.9 to place – which is the same price as Roaring Lion is to win.
Things didn’t go his way at Deauville last time out but French Derby winner Study Of Man has plenty of class and very low mileage on the clock meaning he could still be on the upgrade.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
PLACE NAP: Study Of Lion (6.35 Leopardstown)
