PREMIER LEAGUE RETURNS JUNE 17: Fantastic news for English football fans as the Premier League returns on Wednesday the 17th of June. The Premier League has been suspended since March 13 and we will start back with:
• Aston Villa v Sheffield United
• Manchester City v Arsenal
These are the two games that had to be moved because of the Carabao Cup final and when they are played on June 17, all teams will have played 29 games. The Premier League only voted to resume contact training on May 27.
As is stands, the Premier League have 92 fixtures left to play. After the two games in hand are played, the aim is to have a full fixture list on the weekend of June 20.
We’ve seen rumours suggesting that the TV schedule could be something like this:
Saturday games: 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm.
Sunday games: 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm.
Tuesday games: 6pm and 8pm.
Wednesday games: 6pm and 8pm.
Football fans are in for a treat if that schedule is true. Liverpool fans will also be over-joyed with the news as it now certain that they will indeed win the league. A void season after waiting so long for a title would have been a big blow. Premier League players and staff will continue to be tested twice a week or more.
The finer details for the fixture list could change as the clubs are still in discussions however it looks like we can look forward to Aston Villa v Sheffield United and Manchester City v Arsenal on the 17th of June!
