8.1 WINNER PUTS DAQMAN IN PROFIT AGAIN: Winner-a-day Daqman was in profit again yesterday when taking 8.1 on BETDAQ about 7-2 winner Don’t Tell Claire, after a non-runner left him tipping in only two races.

WON 7-2 DON’T TELL CLAIRE (Wednesday’s profit 2pts)
WON 9-4 RED HAPPY (Tuesday’s profit 4.75)

⚠️ BREAKING NEWS: Only eight were declared this morning for the Futurity Trophy two-year-old test at Doncaster. Daqman’s ratings forecast an Aidan O’Brien one-two.

O’BRIEN HAS THE FUTURITY TOP-TWO

⭕ 3.35 Doncaster, Saturday (Futurity Trophy, 1m, 2yo). Daqman’s ratings name Auguste Rodin and Salt Lake City as the top two, despite 20-1 offers about that one by some bookmakers.

111 AUGUSTE RODIN (Aidan O’Brien) Robust colt, very impressive in his work; first foal of a sister to Magical. Favourite for the Guineas, with four winners of that Classic produced by this race since 2017.

Won the Champions Juvenile at Leopardstown, prompting this praise from Aidan O’Brien: ‘He could be the type to do both Guineas and Derby.’

109 SALT LAKE CITY (Aidan O’Brien) Galileo colt, runner-up to Al Riffa – now 115 rated – at the Curragh in August. Disappointing on firm ground at York but bounced back to break his maiden at the Curragh (soft) earlier this month.

108 EPICTETUS (John and Thady Gosden) The Kingman colt is a half-brother to Jumbly out of a Selkirk mare who was half-sister to Australian.

Beaten a neck in the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket by Silver Knott, who had been last of three in a soft-ground Champagne Stakes to subsequent Dewhurst winner Chaldean.

107 HOLLOWAY BOY (Karl Burke; Ulysses out of a Pivotal mare). Something of a benchmark as three times placed at Group level, second to Nostrum at Newmarket and (not clear run) third to Silver Knott and Epictetus over a furlong shorter on the same track, with Dancing Magic (led until final furlong) fourth.

098 STORMBUSTER (Andrew Balding) Had to drop below Listed level to land small-field Haynes, Hanson and Clark, readily, at Newbury.

096 DANCING MAGIC (Roger Teal) Camelot colt; still a maiden. See Holloway Boy.

095 KING OF STEEL (David Loughnane) Derby entry by Wootton Bassett; very easy winner of Nottingham maiden from a bad draw, beating well-bred Newmarket favourite.

087 CAPTAIN WIERZBA (Ralph Beckett) Night Of Thunder colt with strong emphasis on stamina on the dam’s side. Won a Ffos Las maiden. Baulked (unseated rider) in Group 3 at Saint-Cloud at the end of September.

TIP FOR THE DARK HORSE

⭕ 4.35 Wolverhampton Dark Swansong is only 1-12 but has done much of his racing at a much higher level.

After finishing fifth at Ascot in September he followed up here by finishing second to Flatley who reopposes tonight. The slightly better terms might be enough for the half length margin to be turned around.

Ring Of Light won well at Kempton and should still be a big danger despite the 6lb hike.

BACKING BACK AS NAP

⭕ 5.25 Southwell Revoquable won his first race in nine starts when getting off the mark over course and distance last time out but I’m in no rush to back him to follow up with his 6lb penalty.

He was a 40/1 shot when winning what looked a weaker event than this and his trainers recent strike rate of just three winners from his last 63 runners hardly inspires confidence and I’ll oppose him on Betdaq Betting Exchange.

Back From Dubai looks a more sensible bet. Despite his name, he’s back from Southwell having run well here over this trip last month when beaten a neck behind Masqool.

He looked the moral winner as his jockey dropped his whip close home and was only collared on the line. It wasn’t the strongest race but I like the fact the front pair pulled a full 10 lengths clear and the winner won at Kempton earlier this week to give the form a timely boost.

GOOD EXCUSE NOTES FOR OATS

⭕ 7.45 Wolverhampton Overnight Oats falls into a category I’m usually wary of. A beaten favourite who is up in the weights.

However there is mitigation from the defence.

As excuses go, the Racing Post comment for his run is pretty strong:

Ducked sharply right start, nearly lost jockey

The fact that the partnership recovered to finish a length second suggests that he really is worth another chance. He hasn’t shown problems at the start before so I am hoping it was a one off.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
