THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Sunday’s T20 World Cup clash between India v South Africa with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
India v South Africa
MATCH OVERVIEW:
So far the T20 World Cup has had everything on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. Shock upsets, last ball wins, massive runs and rained off games – what else can happen? We were all set for a do-or-die game on Friday between Australia and England but the weather put paid to that, now we have a top of the table clash in group 2 between India and South Africa. Zimbabwe beating Pakistan was one of many major shocks in this tournament, and that result did a massive favour for both these sides. They will be strongly fancied to finish in the top two now, but the loser here will likely be under a little pressure.
The way the group has worked out so far, if that loser is South Africa then they are in a much worse position. Their game against Zimbabwe was rained off and that has put them on the backfoot as they would have easily won if the rain didn’t arrive. Indeed, they had even gone past the Duckworth Lewis total for five overs but we only managed three overs in the chase. This should be a top quality game though, and you have to hand it to India so far – they have brought their A game to this World Cup so far. It looked like they might lose against Pakistan but they finished like a train, and their star man Virat Kohli is peaking at just the right time after a very poor run. Talk about timing though; there was talk he shouldn’t even be in the starting XI a few weeks ago!
India rightly come into the game as favourites, but they do have their weak points. South Africa’s bowling in these conditions is marginally better in my opinion, and how the Indian batters play the South African bowlers will likely decide this game. What a cracker we have in store.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
Obviously the rain in Australia has been a major talking point of this World Cup, and it is a shame that we have lost so many games. It’s just the way things worked out – as they said at the weekend Melbourne got the same amount of rainfall in two days compared to the monthly average. Thankfully the forecast looks good for Perth on Sunday morning (UK time) but watching the radar is a must at the moment. We saw Pakistan fail to chase 130 from Zimbabwe here the other day, and then England made heavy work of chasing a low score from Afghanistan too. Usually this is a good scoring ground but the jury is out.
RECOMMENDED BET:
Having watched the Pakistan v Zimbabwe game here, I would favour India at 1.66. I just feel conditions will suit them here – at the moment I would suggest that they haven’t been fully natural Perth conditions, but they should suit their bowlers. Zimbabwe had a lot of tall bowlers and South Africa will be looking at how they bowled and would expect success too. I just feel the India batting will be good enough to weather any storms from the new ball and then the late hitting will win the game. This Indian batting line-up is so strong with so many power hitters it feels like they can produce a score from anywhere. I’m happy to keep stakes small though because I am unsure on conditions.
The Edge Says:
One point win India to beat South Africa at 1.66 with Betdaq Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Although, at the moment, the forecast looks OK it’s a must to watch the radar. It just goes without saying at this World Cup at the moment. You’d probably opt to bowl first here given the overhead conditions, and I wouldn’t let Pakistan and England batting poorly in the second innings change that. Australia chased down the score from Sri Lanka quite easily. I would usually favour the bating side at Perth, but I feel the two bowling line-ups can do well here – India have the better batting so they could be able to handle it better, but I would expect to look for trades on both bowling sides rather than the sides while batting here.
