DAQMAN NOW LEADS PRICEWISE 7-1: Hermes Allen (WON 13-8) was a Daqman herald for the weekend when its Newbury win yesterday took him into a 7-1 value-challenge lead over Pricewise of the Racing Post. He is 282.75 clear of his rival to 10-point level stakes.

TOP FIVE SATURDAY RACES: Newbury is ON! So we have a solid racing Saturday, with Daqman’s First Fortune cooking of the season taken at 41.0 on BETDAQ in the big race. Daqman picks out four at Newbury and adds one from Fairyhouse, which has a jockey tip set to end up favourite.

KITTY 40-1 FORTUNE COOKIE

⭕ 2.50 Newbury (Gold Cup, 3m 2f) With the Cotswold Chase winner Ahoy Senor 12lb clear of everything else and a group of six on rock-bottom 10st 2lb, there are 13 runners within an 11lb range in a race within a race!

You would expect the winner to come from the better-rated of the 13: between 157 and 151, such as Stolen Silver, Midnight River, Eldorado Allen and Complete Unknown, all more highly rated than the last six winners of this race.

But I have to take account of three horses laid out for the race, Kittys Light, Stumptown and Our Power.

Betdaq Betting Exchange top value: 8.5 Complete Unknown, 13 Stumptown, 41 Kittys Light, 49 Our Power.

1: Kittys Light (Fortune Cookie) Winner of the Eider Chase, Scottish Grand National and Sandown Gold Cup consecutively, despite only about a week between the last two. Kitty’s tough as a tiger, and prepped for this over hurdles this autumn. Headgear back on today.

2: Complete Unknown Winner or placed in 12 out of 13 starts. Big winner over hurdles at Sandown and 16 lengths clear of his first handicap chase field in the Spring, he scored on his run back in October and the only semi-negative is that he would prefer softer ground. Trainer landed a double at Newbury yesterday.

3: Stumptown Within a neck of a hat-trick in March when second in the Kim Muir at the festival over today’s trip. Laid out for this.

4: Our Power Another plotted for this race after having to miss it last year following a slight setback. Won at Kempton in February instead. Stable currently 3-6; also runs Stolen Silver. Cheekpieces back on Our Power today.

5: Monbeg Genius, another who would like deeper ground, but his third in the Ultima at Cheltenham to Corach Rambler and Fastorslow now looks so good.

6 = Midnight River and Stolen Silver were one-two in the New Year’s Day Chase at Cheltenham. Stolen Silver is better off at the weights but Midnight River went on to score at the Grand National meeting (3m 1f).

8: Eldorado Allen could be a live outsider on his old form. Back to the kind of weight which saw him second twice to Shishkin, and a winner first over Hitman and then over Royal Pagaille before seconds a year ago to Bravemansgame and then Protektorat.

9: Remastered Second in this last year, beaten only half a length. Has lost his way since, despite a second wind op, and now has a lot to do, aged 10 and off a high mark.

10: Mahler Mission His highlight was having a four-length lead in the NH Chase at Cheltenham when he fell two out. Just the one chase win from six starts but steady improver; claimed off 3lb.

11: Cloudy Glen Won this race in 2021 and showed he was no back number by humping 12st into second place at Cheltenham in November (3m 3f).

12: Ahoy Senor Seems to have an impossible task off 12st. The last winner off such a weight was Burrough Hill Lad (1984) who did it for the first time since Arkle (1964-5).

VALUE CHALLENGE: Pricewise has had two goes at this race under two different names, tipping in total Complete Unknown, Mahler Mission, Stumptown and Twig. Daqman’s four are Kitty’s Light, Complete Unknown, Stumptown and Our Power.

18.0 BETDAQ DREAM OFFERS

⭕ 1.40 Newbury (2m 4f handicap hurdle) Outsiders, 9-1 to 20-1, have won this four years running and, though Jet Powered (Nicky Henderson) is fancied first run back, Cobblers Dream, 12lb lower than last year at this time and too big at 18.0 on BETDAQ

Winner of the Lanzarote and second in the Martin Pipe, he – and his stable – had a slow time last season but have bounced back, with Ben Case 102201, still standing, in the last 12 days.

⭕ 2.00 Fairyhouse (2m 1f Listed chase) Another chase with a 12st 1lb topweight, where 11st 5lb has been the heaviest burden carried in the decade.

Just the one winning favourite, but The Folkes Tiara, who goes well fresh, is likely to be strongly supported, with Rachael Blackmore getting off that topweight, Dancing On My Own, and picking the bottomweight!

⭕ 2.15 Newbury (Gerry Feilden, 2m handicap hurdle) Nicky Henderson has won this three years out of four, including with the champion Epatante.

He seems to have the race Under Control again with a Mares Hurdle hope who is already four wins from five, though just a four-year-old. It would be the stable’s 10th Gerry Feilden. BETDAQ 3.0

CHEWY SET TO CRACK NUTZ

⭕ 3.25 Newbury (Jim Joel Memorial, 2m handicap chase) Young horses, aged four, five and six have won in the last four years and I took a fancy to Master Chewy in his two runs at Aintree this autumn.

Main danger may be 6.0 BETDAQ offer Elixir De Nutz, who won well at Exeter and is taking in this test on way to a tilt at the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton over Christmas.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
