FORTUNE COOKIES’ 523 POINTS PROFIT: Fortune Cookies yesterday took their total to 16 winners from 35 runners for 523 points profit at a strike rate of 46%, when Goliath made it 2-3 for the weekend following Charyn’s smooth Champions Mile success at Ascot on Saturday.

Sunday at Longchamp
WON 6-5 GOLIATH (FORTUNE COOKIE)

Saturday at Ascot
WON 13-8 CHARYN (FORTUNE COOKIE)
WON 8-11 KYPRIOS (supernap)

TODAY: Daqman heads to Pontefract to start the week with his nap running in the listed race.

GOLIATH ENGAGES TOP GEAR

He’s a true champion.. Who could argue when they said that of Kyprios as he made it seven out of seven for the season in the Long Distance Cup on British Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday.

But True Champion No 2 came along within a couple of hours when Charyn put the critics to shame in the QE11.

And I saw True Champion No 3 at Longchamp yesterday: Goliath smoothly launched his big frame past Hamish who would have none of it.

But Goliath responded as if to say: there’s petrol left and overdrive in my gear-box which I haven’t used yet. He did indeed engage his reserves and quickly settled the issue.

There are those who missed him, when absent from the Arc de Triomphe. We didn’t; we were on the winner, Bluestocking. Yes, another ‘true champion.’

All have in common that they were Fortune Cookies, horses selected by Daqman as horses to follow. Guineas and Derby winners were among the returns, punctuated by huge 12.0 BETDAQ value in the Arc.

BLUESTOCKING (Arc de Triomphe) 12.0 on BETDAQ
CHARYN (British Champions Mile)
CITY OF TROY (Epsom Derby, Eclipse and Juddmonte International)
GOLIATH (King George)
KYPRIOS (Ascot Gold Cup, Goodwood Cup, Irish St Leger, French Gold Cup)
LOOK DE VEGA (French Derby)
PORTA FORTUNA (Coronation Stakes, Falmouth Stakes, Matron Stakes)
ROSALLION (Irish 2,000 Guineas, St James’s Palace Stakes)

*Kyprios was in and out of the list, not retained temporarily when the odds were prohibitive.

We shall see out the Flat season with Fortune Cookies on the final day next weekend, at the Melbourne Cup meeting and in the Breeders Cup. But, as ever, we have two top tasks on hand:

TWO-YEAR-OLDS: Daqman assesses the 2024 season’s two-year-olds and prepares his Three-Year-Olds Of 2025.

JUMPERS: Fortune Cookies for the Jumps (2024-25) will be launched as the NH season gets under way. Watch this space for more ‘true champions’!

Real Steel was back to his best when he jumped for fun to win the Munster National yesterday.

LAGOON FOR GOLD IN SILVER TANKARD

⭕ 3.15 Pontefract (Silver Tankard Listed) Calla Lagoon is certainly going the right way, handles soft and should be suited by the step up in trip from seven furlongs to a mile.

The Ralph Beckett trained two-year-old shaped with promise on debut at Kempton before winning when stepped up in class at Ascot. He only got up close home so the extra furlong over a testing circuit should be now ideal.

He’s clearly held in high regard at home as he still has an entry for Saturday’s Group 1 Futurity which will presumably now be bypassed in favour of the easier assignment.

Tuscan Hills also has some lofty engagements and did nothing wrong when winning nicely at Thirsk on debut. The bare form wasn’t great though and it was also on good ground so he needs to find improvement for the switch to soft today.

Main danger to the selection (and nap) is Love Talk who was trading fairly steadily this morning on Betdaq Betting Exchange. She is a proven mudlark with plenty of experience and fully deserves her place in listed company having won a class 2 at Goodwood last time out with some ease.

Her trainer Grant Tuer is struggling for form though which is one of the few negatives with her – he is 0-15 over the last fortnight.

COMMA TO LAND BECKETT DOUBLE

⭕ 4.15 Pontefract Ralph Beckett can complete a swift double with his only other raider Oxford Comma who can see out this marathon two mile two furlong trip the best.

This is her first attempt at the trip but loves the mud (soft ground 1m 2f winner at Salisbury) and although a well beaten seventh at Doncaster last time out that did come at Group 2 level so it was more about her limitations being exposed and this looks a lot more realistic.

Obvious danger is Kyle Of Lochalsh who, if anything, might find this trip on the short side! He was still staying on when third in the 2m 4f Ascot Stakes at the Royal meeting and has been consistent in his races since. He does need to concede a stone to the progressive three-year-old filly though and this might be the telling point.

EAGLE EYED VALUE

⭕ 7.45 Southwell Eavestone, who could start odds-on, doesn’t look great value as she goes in search of a first win after placed efforts at Kempton, Southwell and Goodwood.

She let supporters down at short odds when second here in July and Eagle Angel is preferred for the Gosdens. He’s been off the course since winning at Wolverhampton 360 days ago but the market signs are positive and the trainer(s) are in great current form.

King Chaos showed promise on debut at Windsor when third and tackles the all-weather for the first time over a longer trip which should suit.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.

Did you know? DAQMAN’s tips are posted each and every day so he’s always on hand to help with your horse racing betting.
