FOUR ACES FOR NEXT YEAR’S FLAT: As the Flat winds down to Saturday’s Doncaster finale, Daqman names his champion two-year-olds with a view to the 2026 Classics.

THREE WEDNESDAY BETS: Daqman goes in search of more winners on Wednesday but not at Nottingham which has been called off due to heavy rain.

THREE-YEAR-OLDS OF 2026

2YO fillies of 2025

BALANTINA (firm ground) Won the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies for Donnacha O’Brien, who would measure her chances on his 2023 runner-up in the US race, Porta Fortuna, subsequent second in the 1,000 Guineas before a hat-trick of Group-1 strikes, including the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

DIAMOND NECKLACE (soft ground) Which is best for Aidan O’Brien’s Classic season next year, Precise or Diamond Necklace?

Precise has won four in a row, including the Moyglare and the Fillies Mile but beat her stablemate 102-rated Beautify in the Moyglare and a 40-1 outsider off 96 at Newmarket.

The unbeaten Diamond Necklace came on the scene later as befits progeny of St Marks Basilica, who went on to win the French Guineas and Derby.

2YO colts of 2025

HAWK MOUNTAIN Th question who was best of the Ballydoyle colts was up for a Champions Juvenile test at Leopardstown in September then a Futurity verdict at Doncaster on heavy ground.

Benvenuto Cellini won the ‘champions’ test by five lengths which seemed less impressive when the runner-up was only fourth to Puerto Rico in the Saint-Cloud Criterium.

Hawk Mountain on a hat-trick and stablemate Action finished together, clear of Benvenuto Cellini in the Futurity (heavy).

ACTION, a big Frankel colt, closely related to dual Derby winner Lambourn, had come on markedly from his third in the Royal Lodge (good to firm).

TIME GENTLEMEN PLEASE

⭕ 1.53 Musselburgh Dwindling Funds headed the morning Betdaq Betting Exchange market and should again go well on soft ground he likes but he needs to bounce back from being a beaten favourite at Doncaster last time out when he was racing in a higher grade.

I prefer the chances (and odds) of Double Time who was a soft ground winner at Windsor in July and comes into this on the back of a smooth win at Kempton last time out when he made all the running.

He’s drifted in the morning betting but I think that’s more a case of he was put in too short in what after all is a competitive race.

ALL THE GHEAR

⭕ 4.03 Musselburgh Jim Goldie (trainer of Dwindling Funds) has a solid chance in the finale with Aighear who goes well for 3lb claimer Amie Waugh.

The mare loves the mud and is enjoying a career best run of form this autumn running particularly well when runner-up at Newbury last time out.

Young Merlin and Quercus Robur were also both second on their latest starts and rate the biggest dangers.

Young Merlin was no match for 12 length winner Trojan Sun at Nottingham but will be better suited by this drop back in trip whilst Quercus Robur has won at Pontefract and Newcastle and has the form to win this if handling the soft ground of which he so far has limited experience of.

A RANDOM NAP

⭕ 5.30 Kempton The course switches to an afternoon slot to avoid the evening fireworks.

Completely Random could be the answer to this six furlong handicap.

The grey is no stranger to class 2 company having competed his last six races at this level and his Newmarket seventh last time out is better than it looks given he was only beaten less than five lengths.

The handicapper has generously dropped him a couple of pounds and he returns to the all-weather for the first time since winning at Southwell in April.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
