INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY FRIDAY: The Ultra previews ENGLAND v URUGUAY with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
ENGLAND V URUGUAY
7.45pm We have a very low-key International Break this time around on Betdaq Betting Exchange! We have some huge World Cup Qualifiers with the Playoffs, but aside from that most sides are playing friendlies. England host Uruguay on Friday night from Wembley as Thomas Tuchel’s side begin their final preparations ahead of this summer’s tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. What we might learn from this fixture is debatable, but obviously every time England play there’s plenty of debate! It’ll be interesting to see how many tickets Wembley sells.
As you would expect, England come into the game as the odds on favourites. They are trading 1.53 with Uruguay 7.6 and the draw is 4.4 at the time of writing. England qualified for the World Cup with a perfect eight wins from eight in their Group, they didn’t have to get out of first gear to be honest. Tuchel has named a bumper 35 man squad and split it across two camps. He’s expected to rest plenty of players for this fixture – including Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice. They join the group after Friday for the Japan fixture on Tuesday; but I’m not sure it’s worth playing them – we already know they are top class players. Obviously it is tricky from an England point of view; getting prep for the World Cup is hard to come by but at the same time the top players already have a lot of miles in the legs.
What that creates is a genuine audition for the remaining World Cup spots, so a second XI from England might actually make it a more interesting game here. As for Uruguay, they are no pushovers – but they arrive in uncertain form though. Under Marcelo Bielsa – whom everyone knows from his time at Leeds – the South Americans grinded out their CONMEBOL qualification. They were thrashed 5-1 by hosts USA in a friendly last November, which was an alarming result for a team that fancies itself as a dark horse, but obviously it’s hard to read into friendly form. Bielsa’s intense, high-energy pressing style always makes his sides competitive, but the attacking quality has been a real concern. They arrive at Wembley with something to prove probably, but then again you have to consider that they have been playing Brazil and Argentina in qualifying too, which is no easy task.
The real question is whether a heavily rotated England, with several fringe players desperate to impress, can maintain the same defensive solidity that defined their qualifying campaign. It goes without saying that this is definitely a game and situation for small stakes – especially before we see the team news. With so much riding on individual performances here, England will be positive and attack-minded, and we should see a reasonably open game. Over 2.5 goals is trading 2.12 which I was a little surprised to see. I know these games can be very boring at times, but I feel we’ll see a reasonably entertaining game here given the circumstances.
The Ultra Says:
One point win Over 2.5 goals at 2.12 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
