DOWNPATRICK: Wednesday afternoon’s meeting at Downpatrick goes ahead after the track passed an 8am inspection.
The good news is that Downpatrick is on today.
Officials checked conditions in light of the wet spell of weather but gave the fixture the thumbs up.
Horse Racing Ireland tweeted: “Downpatrick goes ahead after passing course inspection this morning.”
Westhaven has been a costly horse for me to follow this season and looks to have a good chance in the opener but has to concede 12lb to Faustina Pius whose jockey Ben Dalton takes a further 5lb off and that might well tilt the scales in her favour.
In truth she is just as frustrating as Westhaven but something has to win this and Faustina Pius actually ran a cracker when fourth in a big field at Galway last time out and will again relish the underfoot conditions.
The Willie Mullins’ trained Zadarska should take advantage of the easier opportunity in the 4.35 race.
