SHAMROCK ON MONDAY: Shamrock heads to this evening’s card at Roscommon which passed an inspection on Sunday. The ground is heavy.
Not a bad run from the nap yesterday, the debutant Acting Talent who finished third at 15/2 in the opener at Navan.
I was impressed with Stubbs in the next race who quickened smartly to land the odds and confirm the promise he showed in the opening two-year-old race of the season, the Tally Ho Stakes.
No surprises we are racing on heavy ground at Roscommon tonight.
Despite the ground, a fine evening is forecast and the course are expecting a decent crowd for their mixed card which gets underway at 6pm.
There are only five runners in the 6.30 yet the BETDAQ market is very tight and compact and ANY of the five could go off favourite come post time.
I have to rule out Connacht Council and Windsor Queen on the ground. Unlike the other three they don’t have proven form on heavy ground which is the key factor here.
Of the remaining trio Frozen North seemed to struggle over this trip last time out at Navan and that would leave the race between Lady Giselle and Janna’s Jingle who ran well when third last time out at Tipperary but I’m unsure the trip and ground will be ideal here.
So we are left, by default, with top weight Lady Giselle who is consistent and although beaten a long way in third at Gowran last time out is worth another chance in this modest contest.

NAP: Lady Giselle (6.30 Roscommon)
