Arsenal have been bitterly disappointing this season and I firmly believe that this is the worst side Arsene Wenger has put together. Unless they turnaround a 4-0 deficit to AC Milan they are set to finish a seventh consecutive season without a trophy and Tottenham can add to their troubles on Sunday.
The Gunners lack the necessary backbone and desire to carry them through this season and I don’t see anyone in the squad that can grab them by the scruff of their necks. If it were not for Robin Van Persie’s goals then the Gunners would be even worse off and that’s mainly down to their defending.
Spurs are in the perfect position to land the league double over their rivals, which would further damage Arsenal’s chances of a top four finish. Harry Redknapp’s side continue to be a joy to watch and they can hurt you from all over the pitch. Whoever Wenger chooses in his back four is in for a torrid afternoon and I expect the high-scoring trend of the North London derby to continue. Emmanuel Adebayor will be relishing his return to Arsenal and don’t be surprised if he’s on the scoresheet.
There’ll be plenty of tackles flying about and Scott Parker will thrive in a competitive midfield. Parker typifies what Arsenal are lacking in the centre of the park and at around 2.88, Spurs are a great shout for three points at the Emirates. A Spurs win on Sunday would also further underline Redknapp’s credentials for the England job in the summer.
Kenny Dalglish can cap off a really tough few weeks by landing the Carling Cup later that afternoon at Wembley. Of course there’s a chance of an upset and Liverpool know all too well about the underdog threat after the memorable Wimbledon cup final.
Brighton were tipped to give Liverpool a run for their money last Sunday, but the Reds dispatched the Championship side with consummate ease. Cardiff have more attacking weapons than Brighton, but I don’t think it’ll be enough to give the favourites a headache.
Kenny Miller will be up against Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger, who have been excellent of late. It’ll be an emotional return for Craig Bellamy as he prepares to line up against his boyhood club and he’ll be itching to get on after a few games break.
This should be a comfortable day out for Liverpool and I’m putting them in my doubles and trebles over the weekend.
Other than Liverpool to win, I also like Newcastle and Birmingham and that makes up a nice treble bet.
