PREVIEW

Borussia Monchengladbach’s 2-1 win against Kaiserslautern last weekend came at a cost as star midfielder Patrick Herrmann broke his collarbone. His absence will be a big blow to M’gladbach’s title aspirations as they look to chase down Borussia Dortmund at the top.

Three points this evening will move M’gladbach level with the leaders, albeit if it’s only for 24 hours. Lucien Favre’s side have been in sparkling form this year and that’s been especially the case when playing at Bokelberg Stadium. M’gladbach last lost in the league at the start of December and have since won all four home games across all competitions.

M’gladbach come into this evening’s game on the back of some superb attacking performances that has seen them average two goals per game in their previous six Bundesliga contests.

Hamburg currently occupy eleventh place in the table and were well beaten by Werder Bremen at home last time out. The visitors have fared better on their travels and are undefeated in their past six away league games. A lack of goals has been an issue for Hamburg and they haven’t managed more than one strike in a contest for their past three games.

Even without the injured Hermann, M’gladbach have been far too strong at home this campaign for an upset and I would suggest backing the hosts at 1.83 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Borussia M’gladbach at around 1.83: 6 points

Thursday’s Return: +4.00 points
