Last Sunday’s Premier League action will go down in history as one of the most extraordinary on record. You can forgive fans for expecting something along the same lines this weekend with two big games between Manchester United v Arsenal and Liverpool v Newcastle. Over the years both these match-ups have produced some all time classics.

Only last season Arsenal were hammered 8-2 at Old Trafford and there must be huge concern amongst those travelling fans following the debacle at the Madejski on Tuesday night. I know it was a much changed side and they eventually won, but some of the defending was worse than Sunday league stuff.

That’s not a good sign heading to United, who have a plethora of attacking options. One of which is of course Robin van Persie and I hope he scores a hat-trick to prove the Gunners wrong about selling him. I cannot believe that Wenger needed the money that badly and each of van Persie’s goals must be killing him.

United themselves continue to be bailed out by their strikers, so I’m expecting goals again at Old Trafford. It won’t be another ten-goal thriller, but United have the edge for this one and at 1.74 they look good enough value on BETDAQ.

Sunday’s main offering is Newcastle’s trip to Anfield and this should be another cracker. The famous 4-3 between the clubs always stands out when this fixture crops up, but Liverpool haven’t been playing well enough on Merseyside to get four goals.

Brendan Rodgers will have been disappointed to blow a two goal lead at Everton, but if you take a step back, not many come away from Goodison with anything. There are signs Liverpool are starting to click and they need to carry that into home matches.

Liverpool have still only won once at Anfield in the league since August, scoring only four times in five matches. Luis Suarez was excellent again last week and they need to share the goals responsibility around.

Alan Pardew has had a frustrating start to the season as he continues to fail to resolve the issues away from Tyneside. The Magpies haven’t won away from home in the league yet, although they’ve only been beaten once.

Even though Newcastle have Demba Ba and Papiss Demba Cisse, goals have been lacking on the road and Liverpool are turning their league form around at the right time. At around 1.58 on BETDAQ the hosts are a decent bet to make it successive home league victories.

Betting on BETDAQ – Alan’s Punts:
Manchester United v Arsenal: Back Man Utd at 1.74
Liverpool v Newcastle: Back Liverpool at 1.58
