PREVIEW
Manchester United will be looking to continue their good recent run against Arsenal and put more pressure on Chelsea at the head of the table by taking all three points in today’s lunchtime kick-off.

United have won seven and lost none of their last eight matches against Arsenal at Old Trafford in all competitions and last term’s impressive 8-2 victory over the Gunners was Arsenal’s heaviest in the Premier League.

Wayne Rooney has a notable trio of achievements against Arsene Wenger’s men having scored his first Premier League goal, his first in the Premier League for Man Utd and his 100th Premier League goal all against Arsenal.

Rooney’s ten goal haul is the highest by a Premier League player against the Gunners alongside Robbie Fowler.

Stats fans will also like to know there have been nine penalties awarded in Premier League meetings between United and Arsenal, all at Old Trafford, and five have been missed.

Arsenal have only once scored more than twice at Old Trafford in the league while United have scored in their last 53 Premier League home games, an all-time PL record.

The Gunners may have been involved in one of the most thrilling cup games of all time at Reading in midweek but if they defend like they did in that 7-5 win they will be slaughtered by United’s attack.

United ‘s games have averaged over four goals a game so far and it’s likely Robin van Persie will show the arsenal fans what they are missing when he heads up a home attack that should have far too much for the visitors.
