SPEED FIGURES FROM SATURDAY: Big Race Previews wrap up the action from Glorious Goodwood with confirmation that the final day proved to be the slowest ground of the week.

The final day proved to be the slowest ground that they raced on all week. The going was officially described as soft though the times suggested that it was bordering on heavy as they returned times that were on average 8.7s above standard across the seven races.

Mr Wagyu ran the fastest time of the day in the Consolation Stewards Cup returning a time that was just under a second quicker than the Stewards Cup itself and so earning the winner the best speed rating of the day on 79 points. This is a very good speed figure for a handicapper and particularly so for a horse that has been doing most of his winning on a good to firm surface. The horse has improved by 23lbs since the start of June and he improved further again yesterday.

Wonderful Tonight returned the second best speed figure of the day on 77 points when winning the Lillie Langtry Stakes and this race was just under three-quarters of a second quicker than the preceding handicap over the same course and distance where the first three home all returned speed figures of 75.
