TODAY: Three bets on a quiet Monday. Daqman saves his best bet for the last race of the day at Wolverhampton.
DYSART IS TRULY A DYNAMO
🥇 Most impressive winner As the announcer might say on the tannoy: ‘Dead heat for first place between Bob Olinger and Dysart Dynamo.’
I marked up Gringo d’Aubrelle in the novice hurdle and was rewarded with a 14-1 second each-way, and reckoned Capodanno looked the only one likely to give Bob Olinger a race.
Both ideas were justified but both winners went well clear, Bob jumping superbly, Dysart truly a dynamo.
⌚ The fastest Despite winning easily, Dysart Dynamo ran another dead-heat in terms of his winning time at Punchestown yesterday alongside that recorded by Now Where Or When in the beginners’ chase at Fairyhouse on Saturday.
Now Where Or When, whose best form had been over further, enjoyed the good gallop over 2m, and Antrim trainer, Stuart Crawford, should be able to find a decent handicap for him.
🏇 Hidden horse On AW, I noted Naranco (Ralph Beckett), a Kingman related on the dam’s side to High Chaparral.
Could not catch the well-prepared Tranquil Night, gelded and in first-time hood, but – not knocked about – ran on well in the fastest race of the day at Kempton last Wednesday.
Tranquil Night got the plaudits but, unfancied in the market, Naranco was making his first appearance on a racecourse. Beckett’s horses tend to show huge improvement as three-year-olds and are always well placed.
QUICK BUCKS AT CHEPSTOW?
⭕ 1.30 Chepstow Buck’s Boggle probably doesn’t need to improve much on his course and distance third over Christmas to take this. After showing reasonable form in bumpers, he made a perfectly satisfactorily jumping debut behind Nothin To Ask and Chavez. The front two have yet to reappear but they were first and second favourite that day and it didn’t look a weaker race than this one.
The BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE market is probably the best guide to Monbeg Lane who won an Irish point and now makes his hurdling debut for Tim Vaughan. He certainly wasn’t without support in morning business and looks a nice prospect, although is bred to get further.
Post No Bills showed some promise on debut here last month and brings plenty of point experience to the table but his only win in that sphere was on good ground.
THE RIGHT NOTE
⭕ 7.00 Wolverhampton Simon and Ed Crisford have had four winners from their last seven runners and their astute placing can gain further rewards with Base Note here.
The three-year-old improved significantly for his racecourse debut at Kempton to finish second here last time out and just a little further improvement on that run should make him hard to beat.
He is preferred to Zain Sarinda who showed promise on debut at Kempton despite rearing in the stalls and needing some cajoling to get going.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
⭕ 7.30 Wolverhampton I’m saving the nap until the last race of the day. Almufeed is taken to defy his 7lb penalty for a very easy course and distance success 12 days ago. He was well backed before making all the running for a comfortable 3 3/4 length success and even with the hike in the handicap still stands out in a modest contest where many of his rivals are out of form.
The exception being Billy Roberts who is bidding for a course and distance hat-trick. He should again run his race and looks the main danger.
