DAQMAN HITS 126 POINTS PROFIT WITH HOT ‘WEATHER’ JACKPOT: Daqman, the only rival to Pricewise, swept to 126 points profit in his latest run of jackpot bets through Stormy Weather (WON 13-2 from 9.4 on Betdaq) at Musselburgh yesterday. It follows last Saturday’s gamble on The Wee Chief (WON 7-1 from 14.0).

THREE LAYS UP OUT OF THREE: Daqman also made it three lays out of three when he Bismarcked the 11-8 favourite Creekside (unplaced). His other winners yesterday were Rasheed (WON 11-4) and Taajub (WON 11-4). The jackpots and lays are listed in the Daqman Library – CLICK HERE.

1.05 Leopardstown Subsequent Triumph Hurdle runner-up Unaccompanied won this last year, thanks to the fillies’ allowance, which should help In Bloom and Willie Mullins’ Gorgeous Sixty but, on their form so far, they need help.

The pick of the Mullins’ stable on the evidence we have is Ut De Sivola but Gorgeous Sixty has had only one run in Ireland since she won in France (made all) and she was ridden differently.

Ut De Sivola was not impressive last time out, and Willie Mullins makes no attempt to split the two in the trade paper this morning though, on a line through Burrenbridge Lodge, Ut De Sivola (holds Hisaabaat and, collaterally, Sportsmaster) is the better.

But Sportsmaster and Shadow Catcher should both improve for one completed race each, and English raider Countrywide Flame is the only Grade-1 placer in the field. Pass.

2.10 Leopardstown (Deloitte Novice Hurdle) Winners of this, going back to Istabraq, have entered the who’s-who of Irish racing: this century Brave Inca and Like A Butterfly both went on to win the Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham, though more recently Dunguib was only third at the festival and Oscars Well fourth in their year.

Both Dunguib and Oscars Well had three hurdles starts before this one and both had already taken a Grade 1.

That suggests a three-way contest today between Sous Les Cieux, Captain Conan and Cash And Go. And they are in that order at the front of the Betdaq market, as I write.

That betting batting order doesn’t make sense on the book, and may be significant, since Sous Les Cieux suffered odds-on defeat by Cash And Go at Leopardstown over Christmas.

Supplemented Captain Conan, the first-ever British runner in the Deloitte, is another with just a run over here after winning in France, but his one run was one helluva win: he also turned over a short-odds favourite, Colour Squadron, at Sandown.

Sous Les Cieux had won the Royal Bond, with Il Fenomeno – he hated the heavy ground – trailing in fifth, unable to jump out of the mud.

Il Fenomeno may be better judged on his defeat at Navan in November (on today’s sort of surface) of Dylan Ross, who subsequently split Cash And Go – giving him weight – and Sous Les Cieux in that Christmas race at Leopardstown, the Future Champions.

Noel Meade has won today’s race three times in the last six years and the Deloitte would have been his target all along for Il Fenomeno.

My own feeling is that Captain Conan is ‘having a look’ for Nicky Henderson – he admits he is not a Cheltenham horse – and Sous Les Cieux is favourite because Willie Mullins is Ireland’s favourite.

So I’m taking veteran Edward O’Grady to mark our Cheltenham card for the Supreme Novices Hurdle with Cash And Go here, though I have moe than a sneaking regard for Il Fenomeno. At 3.9 and 9.6, respectively, I can back both on Betdaq at those offers.

2.40 Leopardstown (Dr P J Moriarty Novice Chase) After yesterday’s exercise canter in the Opera Hat at Naas, Bog Warrior, is still in here as I write, attempting a unique Cheltenham trial double in two days.

So, with just 1.58 points separating three of five horses, the Betdaq market suggests that we now need Sherlock Holmes to sort out this Moriarty.

The race has produced the last three RSA winners at Cheltenham, including Bostons Angel, who challenges for the Hennessy Gold Cup this afternoon.

Shinrock Paddy didn’t do much for the Lambro form yesterday but, since beating him at Naas, Lambro has run up to the impressive Flemenstar over two miles, also at Naas.

Now Lambro was a 3m hurdle winner last Spring, so I suspect that we didn’t see the real Lambro in those two Naas races and today’s 2m 5f will be much more to his liking, with the ground also in his favour.

However, Last Instalment is unbeaten in Graded chases up to 3m and is as short as 8.2 for the RSA in Betdaq’s excellent daily read: their Cheltenham ante-post-offers listings.

3.45 Leopardstown (Hennessy Gold Cup) Willie Mullins has won this seven times but it’s a brave man who takes short odds about Quel Esprit.

This is another Forpadydeplasterer situation: a hugely hyped novice falls by the wayside in Grade 1 but is brought back by the maestro trainer and regarded as a hero without the laurel leaves.

However, Bostons Angel, twice his conqueror last season, has himself underperformed since grinding out a grueling double of the Dr Moriarty and the RSA, winning courageously in photo-finishes.

Quel Esprit fell in both when, some say, he would have won each time, and with Magnanimity within inches of being the Angel in the Moriarty and down little more than a length in the RSA.

The question marks over Quel Esprit and Bostons Angel seem sure to be resolved once and for all today; meanwhile Magnanimity is a value 8.6 to be the nearly horse come good if his old rivals continue to falter.
