DAQMAN: Returns on Monday. There is no racing in the UK or Ireland on Sunday following Kempton being abandoned just before 10am.

It’s a wipe-out today 🙁

The remaining meeting at Kempton today was abandoned.

Although course officials gave the fixture the go-ahead earlier in the morning, the situation has since deteriorated.

Kempton’s abandonment means there is now no racing in Britain and in Ireland on Sunday.

Acting clerk of the course Sarah Dunster said: “The temperatures have dropped quite a bit in half an hour.

“There is now freezing ice crystals in the track so we’ve made an early call to abandon.”

The course will inspect for tomorrow’s card at 9am and the only other meeting, Wolverhampton have also called an inspection.

It must pass a 6.30am precautionary inspection on raceday morning.

With temperatures to remain below freezing, and further snow forecast, track officials are taking no chances.

Clerk of the course Fergus Cameron said: “We had snow Friday and worked the track, which improved significantly on Saturday.

“It just seems sensible, given the situation, to check early morning.”
