BOOSH! DAQMAN 84-25 UP, 258 POINTS CLEAR: The Racing Post brought out a new face for Pricewise yesterday but – Boosh! – Daqman tarred and feathered him 5-1 for Saturday returns including the one-two in the big-field sprint handicap at Doncaster, paying 122-1 the forecast with Corals and Ladbrokes. It sent Daqman in to an 84-25 lead, 110 points up to single stakes with Pricewise losing 148, the big-race scene continuing today at Chantilly (2.45) and Aintree (3.00).
BOOSH! 8-1 WINNER WAS 14.0 BETDAQ OFFER: Yet again the feature of their value hunt yesterday was the huge gap between morning BETDAQ offers and SP. The big-odds placed horses were all backed for a place, Al Mufti with a 10-point stake.

GET THE RUB OF THE GREEN: 7.2
2.45 Chantilly (Prix Royal Oak) Europe’s star trainers contest this 1m 7f marathon for the first of two final flings at Group-1 prizemoney beside the magnificent chateau North of Paris today. This one is worth £177,000 to the winner.
Unbeaten for Godolphin in a bid to step up from Group 2 success on the last day at the same trip is Brundtland (Charlie Appleby), though it was off a very steady gallop that he won the Chaudenay.
It won’t be that today, as Flag of Honour (Aidan O’Brien), who likes to front run, will also find out. He reverts to a distance more in keeping with his sole Group 1 success, defeat of Irish Derby winner Latrobe in the Irish St Leger.
But Called To The Bar and Holdthasigreen duelled most of the way and set a very fast time in the Gladiateur, ‘Green’ giving weight to the winner and to the late finisher, Morgan Le Faye.
Five times out of 10 older horses beat the youngsters in this so, at 50:50, and considering the short prices about the three-year-olds, who’ve won just three times in the decade, I prefer the establish stamina of the local heroes.
Holdthasisgreen has 4lb with which to turn around a short-head Gladiateur defeat and was 7.2 this morning.
FILLIES CAN TAKE CHARGE AGAIN
3.20 Chantilly (Criterium International) The home team hardly gets a look-in for this £126,000 prize (2-10) and should be outrun by English and Irish raiders again today.
It’s a clash of the sexes, which the fillies and mares have been winning all season. Can Hermosa boost the Fillies Mile form of Iridessa (she was second on firm and the easier surface might help)? Or will the Mill Reef winner (on soft), John Gosden’s Kodiac colt Kessaar, get the extra furlong today?
Aidan O’Brien has won this three times in the decade with colts and his relying on Hermosa seems indicative. She’s always been campaigned at 7f and 1m, and he has San Andreas in the race to make sure he can play her hand off a fast pace.
With both Kessaar and Hermosa around 2-1 this morning, I shall not be spending big money guessing who will come out best, but it would be no surprise to read tomorrow’s headlines: Can fillies come out on top again next year?
THE GOING IS HIS KIND OF FIRM
2.45 Wincanton (Desert Orchid Silver Cup) This morning’s dream bookie betting had four at 11-4! If they can manage that at SP, they’ll make a killing.
We don’t really want to see 10-year-olds winning a race like this. It’s only happened once since 2008.
What makes it a difficult betting heat is the firm ground but that is another reason, surely, for choosing young legs.
I reminded you the other day that Tom George won it with Forgotten Gold off 127 and now has Sumkindofking on 131 from three entries.
Against him is that he’s stepping up in trip but this should be a fast-run race and firm-ground ability (he’s won his last two races on good to firm) may be the key.
FRODON FOR VALUE ON BETDAQ
3.00 Aintree (Old Roan Chase) We have been warned by Paul Nicholls that this will be Frodon’s season. Here he is still only six but already with 26 starts – 18 over fences – producing a quarter of a million pounds in prizemoney.
Form when fresh: 133133; in fact, won or placed in 12 of his last 16 starts, still standing. Has had a wind op. And 6.8 on BETDAQ.
I certainly can’t have Cloudy Dream. Though he occasionally gets the bouquet, his bridesmaid role is too long established to break the trend when you want him to: 222221222230
Nigel Twiston Davies has two good chances with Templehlills and Flying Angel but, with the handicapper rating them only a pound apart, who can choose between the two, if he can’t!
