TODAY The weekend is completed by Fairyhouse trials of depth.

TOMORROW and all the week: Weekend wrap, horses to follow and Christmas crackers.

PORTERSTOWN IS TRULY PUNITIVE

⭕ 12.55 Fairyhouse (Porterstown Chase) I remember Presenting Percy winning this 3m 5f chase in 2017 and going on to take the RSA (now the Brown Advisory) at Cheltenham.

But since then it’s been a race to swerve as far as Cheltenham and future staying chases are concerned. Before you listen to any of the pre-race ballyhoo, check out the future form for the last four winners:

Dinnie’s Vinnie (2018) 40. Killer Miller (2019) P0P. Court Maid (2020) 30P402 and Smoking Gun (2021) P30FPP.

I stuck my pin in Punitive (BETDAQ 7.6) but I don’t wish him any harm for the future!

In the big-field hurdle at 3.05, I followed the money for Merlin Giant (BETDAQ 7.1) who drops back to his winning trip.

⭕ 1.05 Kelso (Scottish Borders National) Twice in the last seven years, this has been won back to back and five times out of seven by aged 11 to 13.

Big River has been prepped to attempt the same trick today. Rain helps his chance of the double and would reduce his 19.0 Betdaq Betting Exchange offers.

CHAMP’S BIG CHANCE FOR THE MONEY

⭕ 1.25 Fairyhouse (Royal Bond Novice Hurdle) The champion novice who became Cheltenham Stayers Hurdle title-holder, Nichols Canyon won this in 2014 for Willie Mullins.

Mullins, who is 4-8 in the race since then, saddles half the field today, notably Champ Kiely, whose hat-trick was completed in a Grade-3 novice at Tipperary.

The runner-up, who then won at Naas, had scored at Grade-2 level and finished second in three consecutive Grade 1s.

Three other Mullins runners in this have all won their last two starts and ‘could be anything’ as they say, but it was all Champ for the money this morning.

BANBRIDGE IS MAKING HIS FORTUNE

⭕ 1.55 Fairyhouse (Drinmore Novice Chase) This race has set up the likes of Don Cossack (2013) for Gordon Elliottt, who has won it five times in nine years.

Elliott has given Aintree Grade-1 novice hurdle winner Three Stripe Life a taste of victory over fences, and his Mighty Potter has similar form.

Mighty Potter and Three Stripe Life were one-two for the Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown last December when the winner brought more experience to the table.

But how they finish today may be academic, since they have to beat my FORTUNE COOKIE, last season’s Martin Pipe winner for Joseph O’Brien, Banbridge.

Banbridge has had two chases, two wins by wide margins this autumn, picking up a 143 rating.

However, this is truly a race with depth, bringing to bear the high-level experience of Gaillard Du Mesnil, placed behind the then star novices, Bob Olinger, Galopin Des Champs and L’Homme Presse at the start of the year.

There are five more contenders, all dual winners in their last three starts. What a race!

HONEYSUCKLE HAS GRACE TO WIN 17

⭕ 2.30 Fairyhouse (Hattons Grace Hurdle) Honeysuckle attempts 17 wins in a row and a fourth consecutive Hattons Grace, which would send her past the other triple scorers, Limestone Lad, Solerina and Apples Jade.

She has yet to tackle the new kids on the block, like Constitution Hill, if she is to complete the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle hat-trick, and so overtake See You Then and Istabraq.

It won’t be easy, Constitution Hill having already annihilated Epatante, the one-time champion who has run up to Honeysuckle two years running.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
