WAYS TO WIN HALF A MILLION
⭕ 3.12 Cork Laugh A Minute won for Ado McGuinness on the opening day of the Flat last Saturday in little more than a minute, the same day the Dublin stable took the £666,666 Al Quoz sprint at Meydan with A Case Of You.
Laugh a minute? Willie Mullins had to saddle five winners covering 12 miles on the first three days at Cheltenham to take home the equivalent Meydan purse.
Laugh A Minute (BETDAQ 9.2) won this Listed race a year ago, and Mooneista, arch-rival here on form, has been absent 203 days and never won fresh.
Not so Johnny Murtagh’s filly, Measure Of Magic (BETDAQ 5.4), hidden from public view for 190 days but first-time scorer last Spring.
Has not won at 6f, but was third in a Group 3 at the Curragh in the autumn (Power Under Me well behind), with Twilight Spinner half a length in front on today’s terms.
⭕ 4.15 Plumpton Lydia Richards has a 70% strike-rate in the current winners’ window and Tom Cannon is unbeaten on her dual CD winner here, Good News.
He’s the only runner in the field who performed well the last day and has put back-to-back wins together before.
First-time blinkers would have to make a massive difference to Jumping Cats, who has run three times this year, beaten a total of 122 lengths. Even so, that’s 102 lengths less than Precious was thumped in his last three.
But be warned that Precious (11.0) is running in his first British handicap and his trainer won the race a year ago with one who had been beaten a total of 202 lengths in his only completed starts.
