IT’S WILLIE’S FACT FILE AGAIN!

🇮🇪 DUBLIN FESTIVAL favourites were turned over three races in a row by jockey Danny Mullins yesterday. All three of his rides were alternatives to trainer Willie Mullins’ first string and included sinking without a place the 7-4 on Marine Nationale in the Irish Arkle.

Be warned that here on Day 2 last year, Willie Mullins also cleaned up with outsiders: winners at 15-2, 14-1 and 16-1.

⭕ 1.10 Leopardstown(Novice Chase) Willie Mullins’ 🔺FORTUNE COOKIE Fact To File (BETDAQ 3.5) opposes his own hot favourite, Gaelic Warrior (at 1.85 this morning). He has three of the five runners.

Gaelic Warrior is boosted by yesterday’s success of Il Etait Temps, to whom he was runner-up at Limerick in December.

Fact To File has had just two chases, winning very easily over today’s course and distance the last day.

⭕ 1.40 Leopardstown (Novice Hurdle) Gordon Elliott managed to interrupt a flow of four Willie Mullins winners yesterday when he landed the Leopardstown Hurdle with Maxxum at 28-1.

Gordon’s 🔺FORTUNE COOKIE Farren Glory (BETDAQ 5.8) might have followed up his Royal Bond victory with a Tolworth triumph but, going best a length ahead, he fell at the second last.

Elliott also saddles the Royal Bond runner-up, King Of Kingsfield, winner since of a 23-runner maiden over today’s CD.

Their challenge is to Mullins’ odds-on favourite Ballyburn, but mindful that there are big prices about his stablemates Daddy Long Legs, Gold Dancer (Danny Mullins) and Jit Langy, owned by J P McManus.

⭕ 2.10 Leopardstown (Dublin Chase) There are 6.7 offers on Betdaq Betting Exchange about 🔺FORTUNE COOKIE Dinoblue who faces his Willie Mullins stablemate, El Fabiolo (six in a row including defeat of Jonbon).

Though Dinoblue (favourite for the Mares Chase at Cheltenham) is improving and gets 7lb allowance, a line through Fil Dor, second to both, has El Fabiolo in the clear. But, again, there are four Mullins horses in the field of five!

⭕ 2.45 Leopardstown (Irish Champion Hurdle) State Man (W Mullins) appears to have an easy passage to his second championship here over year-younger Impaire Et Passe (W. Mullins), but where the ball drops in this racing roulette is down to yer man (W.Mullins).

HERE’S THE MULLINS’ OUTSIDER

⭕ 3.20 Leopardstown Chase 🔺FORTUNE COOKIE Meetingofthewaters (Willie Mullins) is 17.0 this morning, first-time hooded. For once Willie has a modest history in this chase.

But the six-year-old impressed when winning the featured Christmas chase here at Leopardstown, and six straight winners have been aged between six and eight, with eight out of 10 carrying less than 11st

Busselton (Joseph O’Brien, BETDAQ 28.0), ‘as tough as old nails,’ though only seven, did not weaken until approaching the last in that 3m Christmas chase, when Meetingofthewaters was getting 11lb from him; James Du Berlais fourth. They are now well in with the winner over this shorter distance.

Inothewayurthinkin (Gavin Cromwell) has twice finished late, never looking likely to catch Gaelic Warrior in top-class novice tests, including the Faugheen. Up in trip now.

Heart Wood (Henry De Bromhead, 11.5): Rachael Blackmore’s mount looks thrown in off 10st 1lb, and De Bromhead is hoping for third time lucky after Trainwreck’s head defeat in 2020 and Minella Times half-a-length second in 2021.

⭕ 3.50 Leopardstown J P McManus ‘does a Willie Mullins’ in his 2m handicap hurdle, with a third of the 21 declared, seven runners from six different stables.

The Aintree Juvenile Hurdle winner Zenta would put Lossiemouth in here with an ‘easy’ on that form. BETDAQ 11.5 offers.

LIARI FOR A NAPS TRIUMPH

⭕ 1.20 Musselburgh (Scottish Triumph Hurdle) After Liari won at Wincanton, the runner-up went eight lengths clear at Taunton, and Liari himself scored at Aintree. Now rates the nap, based on the level of his rivals.

An Bradan Feasa beat Balboa in the Triumph Trial at Cheltenham when Balboa was hampered by a faller, but that one was easily dismissed, 25 lengths, by one of the subsequent Triumph favourites, Salver.

⭕ 3.00 Musselburgh Ireland can poach one from the Scottish championships: Almuhit (Emmet Mullins), a strong Flat stayer, can get over the hurdles with Richie McLernon and first-time cheekpieces to help. BETDAQ 7.0.
