ROMA V CAGLIARI

7.45pm Monday night football from Europe this week on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE comes from Serie A and La Liga! We kick off the action with Roma hosting Cagliari as they continue with life after Jose Mourinho. I have to say it was a big shock when the news came through he had been sacked after all he had done at the club. I know he was due to leave at the end of the season, but I thought he would see that out and possibly get the send-off he deserved for winning Roma’s first major European trophy. Nevertheless, Roma have won their last two games since the news broke and they started this matchday sitting in fifth spot. There’s a huge amount of sides in the running for that fourth spot, but Roma were only one point behind Atalanta heading into this matchday. It’s worth noting that Atalanta do have a game in hand over Roma, but it also shows that Mourinho wasn’t doing too badly. Let’s face it, Roma were never really a top four side in Italy and they also haven’t spent much money at all over the last two years. Cagliari started the matchday sitting the relegation zone, so it’s fair to say that most football fans will expect a comfortable home win here.

Roma come into the game as the odds on favourites. They are trading 1.49 at the time of writing with Cagliari 7.6 and the draw is 4.5. I know Cagliari are sitting in the relegation zone, but they have actually been creating marginally more chances than Roma this season! Cagliari’s average xG created is 1.31 while for Roma it’s 1.28 – probably the main reasons Jose Mourinho got sacked by the board. Roma have been better at the back, but Cagliari haven’t been too bad. The issue for them is that they have been very sloppy; they’ve conceded a lot more goals than they should have, and additionally to that they aren’t taking their chances. I would suggest they have a decent chance of staying up. I would also suggest that the 1.49 on Roma here definitely feels a little short – I couldn’t put anyone off a lay there but I like Under 2.5 goals at 2.02. I fully expect Cagliari to sit back and make life very difficult for Roma, and they’ve hardly been setting the world alight with chances created either. I’d have Unders a little shorter.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Under 2.5 goals at 2.02 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

RAYO VALLECANO V SEVILLA

8pm We move over to La Liga to finish the night as Rayo Vallecano host Sevilla. Rayo Vallecano were in action midweek against Atletico Madrid and they deserved a lot of credit for how they played. We know what we’re going to get from Rayo Vallecano here though, the big question is what are we going to get from Sevilla? I have to say the Sevilla situation has been baffling this season. Their average xG created this season is 1.67 which is the third best attacking figure in La Liga but they find themselves in a relegation battle! Obviously nobody expects them to actually go down, but how long does the season have to go on with them so close to the relegation zone without a little bit of panic. I really thought last season would just be a once off after they got back in the Champions League with their win in the Europa League. They’re in deep trouble now though; no European football will see less money come into the club and they won’t be attracting top players either – plus the better talent will want to leave. Interesting times ahead for Sevilla. We have a very interesting market here, and I was very surprised when I clicked in to see the odds.

I felt we would have a very open market here, but Rayo Vallecano are the favourites at 2.24 with Sevilla 3.6 and the draw is 3.35 at the time of writing. Rayo Vallecano are basically creating what they are conceding this season – pretty much mid-table form and that’s reflected in their table position too. They have definitely been stronger at home, but I still feel that the 2.24 is too short here. I know Sevilla have really struggled to win games this season and score goals, but they are creating so much it’s not to not be against Rayo Vallecano here. I just expect a closer game than the odds suggest. Sevilla have massively under-performed in front of goal, but eventually they have to start taking their chances! I’m going to keep stakes limited because of that, but I feel Sevilla can make the 2.24 look too short here.

The Ultra Says:
Two points lay (liability) Rayo Vallecano to beat Sevilla at 2.24 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
