DAQMAN 1-2-3: THEN FOURTH WINNER IN A ROW IS DISQUALIFIED: Daqman landed FOUR consecutive Saturday feature races yesterday, only for the fourth to be disqualified from the Sandown Gold Cup, so reducing his overall profit to 68.25 on the day. See story below. His winners were:
WON 4-5 FRODON (Sandown, supernap)
WON 8-1 PERSUASION (Haydock)
WON 13-2 GREANETEEN (Bull’s-eye bet, Celebration Chase, Sandown)
(Won, disqualified, ENRILO 7-2 from BETDAQ 7.2 Sandown Gold Cup)
TOMORROW: PUNCHESTOWN PREVIEW: Daqman’s Punchestown stats and facts preview to the five-day meeting, which starts on Tuesday, and will feature Daqman’s full range of bets. Current standings:
DAQMAN 10, PRICEWISE 6
LAYS LOGIC 5-6
NAPS 5-9
SUPERNAPS 2-2
ONE GREEN LOSER: ONE GREANE HERO
The third best lands the Gold Cup! The last big race of the Jumps season in England was marred yesterday when the ‘winner’ Enrilo, trained by the champion trainer Paul Nicholls and partnered by the new champion jockey, Harry Skelton, swerved just as Kitty’s Light challenged on his inside.
Enrilo hung on but the contact between the front two allowed Potterman to short-head an unbalanced Kitty’s Light for second.. and the second is invariably awarded the race if the winner is reckoned liable.
That Skelton was banned (four days) looked harsh; Enrilo ran green in the closing stages. That Potterman should get the race was comical, since both Enrilo and Kittys Light would have finished in front of him, without their little misadventure.
But it wasn’t very comical if, as the owner, you missed out on the £64,000 first prize; and not very comical if, as a punter, you were with me in backing Nicholls for a treble, after Frodon and Greaneteen.
Trainer and jockey’s Sunday celebration at Ditcheat of their individual title wins was partly an inquest this morning, whether to appeal the Stewards’ amendment of the result.
Greaneteen was the star of the show for me. He grew up big time in the Celebration Chase by turning over Altior in very fast time.
Bryony Frost landed a double with Frodon and Greaneteen, while her Irish counterpart, Rachael Blackmore, was a weakening seventh in the Gold Cup on Plan of Attack, who had made a mistake at the Pond fence.
I could say that Plan Of Attack’s defeat increased my Lays Logic score to 6-7 but I make it a rule that lays apply only at 4.0 or shorter.
Plan Of Attack eased to 5-1 SP as an Enrilo gamble hoisted him into the favourite’s chair. So not very comical for favourite backers, as morning favourite and new favourite were both deemed to have failed.
FORZING AHEAD AT SALISBURY
⭕ 4.00 Salisbury Just two UK meetings on Sunday and bets are thin on the ground. Shame that the Haydock card which got rather lost yesterday wasn’t staged today?
It’s not unusual for Salisbury novice events to throw up some good horses but with some well bred debutants contesting both divisions of the Whitsbury Manor Stud Novice Stakes betting opportunities are limited but notebooks should be primed.
I’m happy to wait for the 10 furlong handicap at 4.00 where I am not sure I want to be with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE market leader Her Way who is on a recovery mission after being a beaten favourite at Wolverhampton last time out. She was awkward from the stalls and I would have wanted to have seen a little more on her handicap debut.
And all that’s before you take into account that Roger Charlton is 0/20 over the last two weeks including three beaten favourites.
The race won’t take much winning especially now that This Ones For Fred and Farhh Sighted are non runners and I thought La Forza looked interesting on a win and place basis.
It’s easy to see the Marcus Tregoning trained runner improving on handicap debut – especially given the stable are in such good form – three winners from their last seven runners.
The switch to turf, a lowly handicap mark and this longer trip are all contributing positive factors.
DREAMING OF NAP
⭕ 4.30 Salisbury Dreamweaver brings solid form to the table and will hopefully be forward enough to make a winning reappearance here under Oisin Murphy.
The Ed Walker trained runner won at Goodwood in 2019 after a similar break and with the stable in such good form hopefully the trick can be repeated.
The danger is clearly Brasca who ran well after a 565 day break to take second at Wolverhampton. If he steps forward from that he will make Dreamweaver work hard but there is always the ‘bounce’ factor to take into account. That’s horses stepping back from big reappearance efforts after a length absence.
BE LUCKY FOXY
⭕ 4.40 Wetherby Quite a competitive sprint handicap which looks better than the official grade.
Good Luck Fox has a huge chance if he can reproduce the level of his excellent Musselburgh third last time out in a race two rungs up the class ladder!
The downside is the additional 110 yards but he is well drawn in two and inexplicably the handicapper has even dropped him a pound.
DAQMAN’S BETS (all staked to win 10 points including place bet)
BET 1.0pts win and 3.3pts place LA FORZA (4.00 Salisbury)
BET 6.0pts win (nap) DREAMWEAVER (4.30 Salisbury)
BET 5.0pts win GOOD LUCK FOX (4.40 Wetherby)
What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
