⭕ 1.50 Goodwood I’m on a hat-trick in the opener, having won the first two days with Forest Falcon and Secret State. No pressure, then?
No hesitation, in fact! I thought Migdam’s performance at Doncaster was superb, beating off the London Gold Cup third, Israr, who had given weight when beaten only a length at Royal Ascot by a smart horse who went in again yesterday, the very same Secret State.
The danger may be Vee Sight, well placed in the handicap but must improve on his Sandown form for a stable that had a winner here yesterday.
He was receiving 11lb and 8lb from the placed horses at Sandown; two of the three immediately behind him have won since at a lower level.
Warren Point still has potential, with Charlie Appleby 2-4 at Goodwood this week, all four placed. Another Sandown winner, Wanees, was sixth in the Britannia at Royal Ascot, though Charles Hills (0-28) is missing strike; 10 placed without winning in the last fortnight; five favourites beaten.

⭕ 3.00 Goodwood (Gordon Stakes) Hoo Ya Mal is overqualified to win this off 116 (winning ratings of the last five years 104 to 112), but can he live up to his second in the Derby?
It’s a small red flag that he’s tongue-tied after long-time hooded; another that he’s four times placed without winning this season; yet another that he’s changed stables.
But what weighs heaviest, and lets me down only once or twice in an entire season, is that, to date, he has won only his maiden. He’s quickly catching up with his sire (seven times placed without winning), after form figures of 312322. Hoo ya!
Charlie Appleby saddles New London, three wins out of four and six-lengths second in the Chester Vase to the subsequent King Edward V11 Stakes (Group 2) winner, Changingoftheguard
Grand Alliance was short-headed by Changingoftheguard in that King Edward which seems to make him big value at 15.0 on BETDAQ this morning.
But he’s quirky and would have won but for coming off a line; so has Charlie Fellowes (first Group win yesterday) been able to straighten him out?
And you have to filter into the form that the big horse New London didn’t like the track at Chester, just as West Wind Blows was off course in the up hill and down dale of the Epsom Derby; went hard up front, faded.

HOLLIE’S NASSAU ON NASHWA
⭕ 3.35 Goodwood (Nassau Stakes) Lilac Road and Aristia were separated only half a length in the (Listed) Middleton Stakes at York’s Dante meeting, but this is three or four rungs higher in quality.
Of the older animals, the mare Dreamloper, has the best form, stepping up from a Group-2 start at Newmarket at the Guineas meeting to follow up in the Ispahan from the subsequent Messidor winner, Wally.
But three-year-olds have won seven out of the last 10 and, though the Classic animals took a huge knock in the King George, it’s hard to see past Nashwa, French Oaks winner for Holle Doyle after third in the Epsom Oaks. Concert Hall was fourth that day; Rogue Millenium seventh.
A possible improver is One For Bobby, a Frankel who was still big and raw in the Spring, tongue-tied when runner-up in a Group 2 at The Curragh, and has Frankie Dettori booked. I’d want trainer Johnny Murtagh to be in better form.
And where was Frankie yesterday on the 1m 2f winner (Samahram) in a 7f race? Giving them something to aim at? Or at least attacking up the hill?
No, he was bumped and sandwiched in the bunch off the pace and ran third when he finally got the gaps, full of running.
I was also trapped on Alcohol Free in the Sussex Stakes, for whom runner-up spot would have been a winner for our place bet.
Found a gap closing in front of him when Rob Hornby asked her to get involved or might well have beaten Modern Games for second. There was only one winner, Baaeed, but we’ll surely take him on again over 10 furlongs at York.
MOZZIE MAY PIP CHOSEN ONE
⭕ 5.05 Galway (Galway Hurdle) Willie Mullins has trained four of the last six winners of this but only one of them was favourite.
He has a quartet of possibilities sprinkled through the market today but Adamantly Chosen catches the eye, back to his winning trip.
Anna Bunina is an old friend of mine and, claimed off, she is only 6lb higher than for the start of her three wins in five races this year.
The pick of the market is My Mate Mozzie, who will relish the right-handed track; has kept his mark by running on the Flat and wears cheekpieces first time for this target race.
