DAQMAN NAP WINS AND HE FOLLOWS UP WITH STAKES TO WIN 50: 40-1 winners twice yesterday! But Daqman survived amid the shocks with a double whammy bet, Annie Mc (WON 13-8), both Fortune Cookie and nap, who strode more than five lengths clear at Warwick. Today’s nap is a bull’s-eye bet, staked to win 50 points at BETDAQ 7.9. Another double whammy?

COMPUTER ‘WINNER’ OF THE GRAND NATIONAL IS 26.0 ON BETDAQ: With entries for the Grand National announced, Daqman finds 26.0 BETDAQ offers about a horse whose form already computes as the winner! And he previews a Saturday race which prompted a 60.0 Aintree tilt on BETDAQ (see Daqman Library). It finished third at 8-1 joint favourite.

AINTREE IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER

⭕ 5.15 Aintree, April 10 (Grand National) Potters Corner, who won the 2020 Grand National in the computer, was 26.0 in the BETDAQ Sportsbook when 106 entries were announced for the real race last night.

Nicky Henderson, who has yet to win any contest with ‘National’ in the racehead, has entered six for what will be a field of 40 held up at the top of the weights by Tiger Roll.

Tiger Roll bids for an interrupted hat-trick after the 2018-19 double and the 2020 lockdown, representing of course the leading trainer numerically in the entries, Gordon Elliott with 16.

J P McManus’s Easysland, who beat Tiger Roll 17 lengths in the Cheltenham Festival cross-country, is 21.0 on BETDAQ, same price as Cloth Cap.

Cloth Cap heads some markets, based on his Ladbrokes Trophy victory for Jonjo O’Neill over Aye Right, who was also runner-up in Saturday’s Great Yorkshire.

The winner that day at Doncaster, Takingrisks, and last year’s winner, Ok Corral, try to complete a Great Yorkshire and Grand National double last achieved by Rough House (1975).

That double was once all the rage with victories for Freebooter, ESB and Nicholaus Silver before Rough House.

Where do the winners come from now? Look out for Daqman stats and facts in the build-up to the race.

60.0 BETDAQ BET WAS NATIONAL THIRD

⭕ 4.10 Leopardstown, Sunday (Leopardstown Chase) Sunday focus for the Dublin Festival is the Irish Gold Cup but it’s likely to have just four or five runners.

And punters looking for a tilt at the layers will want to work on the Leopardstown Chase, which usually goes to the front of the market (10-1 or under) until a 33-1 shot scored last year.

If you’re looking for a Grand National outsider, this race threw up Seabass (2012) and some of you reading this column were on for Aintree at 60.0 BETDAQ.

Cut to 8-1 joint favourite at the ‘off, Seabass gave Katie Walsh a tremendous ride into third place at Aintree, fading only at the elbow.

Daqman also followed the career of 2016 winner, Empire Of Dirt, who went on to take the Stable Plate at Cheltenham at 16-1 and then the Troytown at 12-1 later in the year.

STATS: On Sunday look for a horse of single-figure age (9 out of 10), carrying below 11st (8 out of 9). I see that J P McManus (12) and Gigginstown (10) have 22 to choose from altogether.

BE LUCKY ON NICHOLLS’ HOME GROUND

⭕ 1.35 Wincanton today Watch the market in this novices hurdle: favourites are five out of six, and they were going 24.0 bar three on BETDAQ this morning.

This is Paul Nicholls’ patch and he’s the Lucky One here, though the six-year-old has as yet won only a Southwell maiden.

But the master Of Ditcheat was full of praise for him that day, and he’s had plenty of racing on deep ground when with Guillaume Macaire and then Willie Mullins.

Trying to free-wheel round Cheltenham on the last day didn’t produce but this is a different track.

Gary Moore is just 1-13 over Jumps in the last two weeks and a gamble on Natural History went astray in his maiden hurdle. But he has a touch of class, placed in a Group 3 on the Flat.

Points winner Manofmanywords makes his hurdles debut a bit late in life but Lilly Pedlar, from the Seven Barrows emporium, ‘could be anything’.

FOLLOW SEASTON! STILL ON A ROLL..

⭕ 2.10 Wincanton (Dick Hunt Trophy) A cracking 3m 1f chase which seems to revolve around whether Shanty Ally can defy an overall 24lb rise for back-to-back wins by a total of 38 lengths on different ground, one of them heavy.

Seaston Spirit has already landed his hat-trick, spread over 11 months and completed with a winning Daqman bet at 6-1 in the Sussex National just under a month back.

Is it a long enough break? Well, he is in fact on five wins in a row, still standing, the first two also in the same month.

Seaston Spirit is up 31lb for all of that but I was really impressed with his jumping rhythm and his solid finish in the Plumpton marathon. I took 8.2 on the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE

It will be interesting to see what Paul Nicholls can do with Shantou Flyer, placed twice in the Foxhunter at Cheltenham for different trainers, and second in the Ultima of 2018.

In fact, his best form is all at Cheltenham, and we’ll probably see him in the Open Hunters Chase at this year’s festival.

Springfield Fox should take them along, as winner from the front in novice chases. Darlac won over the Wincanton CD in December but it cost him a 10lb rise.

THE DAWN BATTLE

⭕ 7.00 Chelmsford It’s the dawn battle at Chelmsford with Dawn Treader and Dawn View heading the BETDAQ market for this 10 furlong handicap.

Preference is for ‘Treader’ who is 3lb well in ahead of his rise in the weights. That came about on the back of a solid effort at Lingfield last week when he chased home Chapla Crusader. He was nibbled at in the market that day (14/1 > 8/1) on what was his stable debut for Graeme McPherson and he already looks an improved horse and could be on a lenient mark.

This is competitive though and Dawn View should run her race again after a course and distance second last time out in a race which she was sent off favourite. She remains a maiden though after 11 starts.
