DAQMAN FINDS A CLASS ACT FOR A 5-1 NAP AT LUDLOW: Daqman returns to higher stakes as the quality improves at Newbury but it’s at Ludlow where he rates a class act as the nap of the day at around 5-1 on BETDAQ. Five meetings tomorrow and then the two-day trials meeting at Ascot with the Long Walk Hurdle.
NICKY HAS THE DEFINITE ARTICLE..
⭕ 12.10 Newbury Nicky Henderson has won this juvenile hurdle three times in the decade, all three of them first time over hurdles, which is true of Goodbye Stranger (hooded) but not Overpriced Mixer, who won at Kempton before unseating rider at Ludlow.
⭕ 12.40 Newbury Two winners of this in the last three seasons for Henderson and he won it in 2013 with an old friend of mine, Josses Hill.
Bought for 320,000 euros, his Lecale’s Article won a Point in Northern Ireland nearly three years back, and was working well at Seven Barrows until a tendon injury.
.. AND HE SHOWS HIS VERSATILITY
⭕ 1.10 Newbury Nicky Henderson is well pleased with Versatility, who keeps on improving at home and on the racetrack. Value 6.6 taken in the BETDAQ orange.
Post War would be a good staying chase if only he could keep him in one piece: a total of 1,169 days off in five separate breaks for one win suggests he is an expensive Humpty Dumpty.
I find that the Getaway breed are also hard to hold together. There is some weakness somewhere in Getaway Trump and The Big Breakaway that has them in the headlines but rarely in the winner’s enclosure.
From the same clan No Getaway, who runs in this novices’ chase, has had six breaks totalling 907 days for one win.
Point winner and hurdles winner twice from four starts, St Barts made a solid chasing debut at Exeter, but he was plenty short enough at 2.7 when I checked out the BETDAQ offers.
A good run here is needed to give the Philip Hobbs yard some confidence going into the Long Walk with Thyme Hill on Saturday.
Thyme Hill had his final gallop yesterday before he renews rivalry with Paisley Park, whom he beat in the Ladbrokes Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury. That was on good ground but he won the Challow at Newbury on the soft as a novice.
SEEING DOUBLE FOR CAID DU LIN
⭕ 1.55 Ludlow A puzzle for punters, with six of the eight runners having won on the course, most of them over the course and distance.
Litterale Ci should be better for her Newton Abbot run after a break, but has won her races stalking small fields.
Eritage won his after a wind op but was lucky when the leader fell at the last three lengths clear of him, and he has yet to have his breathing tested on soft ground. Has never reached the frame on soft so far.
Dual winner over 2m 4f, Admiral’s Secret drops back to the minimum, a trip at which Molineaux beat him at Wincanton. Admiral’s Secret is having his first run since February, and Molineaux is 9lb better off.
He and the grey Caid Du Lin are front-runners, and I can see them leaving the rest behind for speed. I took 5.4 Caid Du Lin on the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
He’s 2lb lower in the ratings than when he won this last year, gets the vote after two races to put him right, whereas Molineaux pulled up at Exeter the last day and has to bounce back, not the only one among a mixed bag of form in the Tizzard outfit.
BRELAN HAS CLASS TO LAND NAP
⭕ 2.30 Ludlow Brelan d’As has kept good company at Cheltenham, Aintree and Newbury, including three of his last four outings in Graded races.
In the last two years, he has appeared only three times on lower-level tracks, with returns of 211, and can score on his first attempt at 3m in recent years, a tasty 6.1 for the nap.
This drop down to an ordinary class-3 at Ludlow coincides with a slip back in the weights, back to his rating when beaten only a neck in the Autumn Gold Cup at Cheltenham last November.
Earlofthecotswolds, runner-up at Ascot last month, tries 3m, for the first time. Should improve as the only youngster in the race.
Buster Thomas goes back up to 3m. His current form over shorter is 2232 but his 3m form before that was a similar bridesmaid 2303.
Kilfilum Cross will get the trip all right, but is a Spring horse, second twice in the Kim Muir, and was in poor form this autumn.
Another Venture has won twice off 128 and, not for the first time, found 135 just beyond him here at Ludlow the last day.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
