MORE CLASSIC CLUES AT MAISONS AND AT NEWBURY: The Classic-trial season continues today at Maisons-Laffitte and there are two special runners on Saturday at Newbury. They’re Daqman Early Birds, of course.

BETDAQ TIPS WINNERS ARE ALWAYS ON THE HOUSE: Rochester House (WON 11-8) benefitted from his AW prep and won for Daqman at Pontefract yesterday to keep up our man’s current winner-a-day sequence of free tips.

HOT CLASSIC-TRIALS DOUBLE

Early Bird double? Two of Daqman’s prospective Fortune Cookies are on Classic parade at Newbury on Saturday.

Dancing Vega (1,000 Guineas) runs for Ralph Beckett in the Fred Darling trial for fillies, and the 2,000 Guineas favourite Too Darn Hot will be saddled in the Greenham by John Gosden.

The revised list is: Addeybb, Amade, Auxerre (won the Lincoln for the list at 5-2), Bell Rock, Calyx, Clon Coulis, Dancing Vega, Dom Carlos (new), Dubair Warrior, Eirene, Global Prospector, Hermosa, Iridessa, Jahbath, Just Wonderful, Madhmoon, New King, Raydiance, Ripp Orf (new), Sangarius, Set Piece, Skitter Scatter, Ten Sovereigns, Themaxwecan, Too Darn Hot, Weekender, Willie John, Wissahickon.

➡️ Flat returns so far: 5.66 points profit to 20pt stakes
➡️ Winners: Wissahickon and Auxerre.
➡️ Deleted: Flavius (sold to USA), Kessaar (stud duty), Quorto (injured; waits for second half of the season).

GRAIGNES IS THE FORM HORSE

3.27 Maisons-Laffitte (Prix Imprudence) The French trials continue with this one for fillies, which famously threw up Ma Biche, Miesque and Ravinella and, this century, Natagora (2008 Newmarket 1,000 Guineas) and Moonlight Cloud.

Devant could finish devant under Olivier Peslier! She has already won at this level (Group 3) over today’s course and distance.

But Frankel’s daughter Suphala, one of two Andre Fabre runners, is sure to take the beating.

4.02 Maisons-Laffitte (Prix Djebel) The colts’ trial has a Mark Johnston raider, Marie’s Diamond, Anglesey winner at The Curragh who led much of the way in Ten Sovereigns’ Middle Park.

But the form horse going to post is Graignes, a close third in the Criterium International, a neck behind Aidan O’Brien’s Galileo filly, Hermosa, after that one had run second in the Fillies’ Mile.

PILASTER A CLASSY SUPERNAP

3.05 Nottingham (Further Flight Stakes) Mark Johnston is represented at Nottingham by Elegiac, too much of a bridesmaid for me (form figures 221222), all at a lower level than today’s Listed.

I prefer to follow Roger Varian, whose own form figures are 111441010 in the last 12 days, including the Doncaster Mile in this grade.

His four-year-old Nathaniel filly Pilaster landed a hat-trick in her first three starts last season, culminating in a Group 2 at Goodwood.

She was then neck and neck – literally – third in the Park Hill Stakes before failing to cope with Group-1 company on British Champions Day.

7.45 Kempton We’ve had Polytrack racing throughout the winter, yet five of the six in this are reappearing after a total of 1,459 days absence!

None of the five has won first time back before, and it may be that they’re prepping for the Good Friday AW championships or for Flat turf, in which case the odd one out, Executive Force – ran six days ago – may continue his eight-race sequence since February 1 of 11112113.
