The finish of the 10.02 at Peterborough Greyhounds last night produced a shock result on Halloween Night – a triple dead-heat in what was just a five dog race !!!

The judge was unable to split traps 1,4 and 5 and so gave the verdict as a dead-heat – he couldn’t decide witch one (OK sorry poor Halloween joke 🙂 ) which one had won.

The ‘winners’ were the first three in betting but punters saw stakes divided into three under dead-heat rules.

You have to feel though for supporters of trap three who was leading until the run-in and not involved in the blanket finish that saw the three winners flash home in a time of 26.6 seconds over the 420 metre trip.

A triple-heater is not unique but very rare.

Last year at Romford Greyhound Stadium Killishan Masai, Ayamzagirl and Droopys Djokovic could not be separated in a photo finish at the Essex venue and a triple dead-heat was also declared (pictured) thought to be the first in living memory.

The result was made more amazing by the fact that it occurred after a 925m race – one of the longest distances in the sport.
