PREVIEW
Tonight’s Premier League offering at Stamford Bridge promises to be one of the most exciting games of the season as Manchester City look to maintain their unbeaten start in the league. It’s been a strange few weeks for Chelsea after they suffered successive defeats to Liverpool and then produced two emphatic 3-0 wins against Newcastle and Valencia.
The Blues are already ten points back from City at the top of the league and Andre Villas-Boas knows that defeat here would make it that much harder to secure the title in May. Last Tuesday Chelsea were excellent against Valencia and Juan Mata was instrumental in nearly every positive attack.
City will still be reeling after being dumped out of the Champions League at the first stage of the competition, even though they comprehensively beat Bayern Munich. Still, Roberto Mancini’s side have so far proved unstoppable in the league and hammered Norwich 5-1 in their most recent league game.
If there’s a slight weakness to City, it’s been on the road. The only two points the league leaders have dropped this campaign have been at Craven Cottage and Anfield, so Chelsea will fancy their chances of getting something. Chelsea will have taken a lot of positives from the Valencia win and they are capable of taking a point this evening.
RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back the draw at around 3.55: 4 points
Sunday’s Return: -6.00
