Now that the World Cup qualifiers are done, it’s time to sit back and enjoy the Premier League and Sunday promises to be an intense day of football as the Tyne-Wear derby gets underway at lunchtime.
Before the internationals, the Black Cats were well beaten at the Etihad and they will need an improved performance given their baron run against Newcastle. It’s been five matches since Sunderland beat the Magpies, but they are unbeaten at the Stadium of Light this season from two matches.
As it stands there are two points between the city rivals and Sunderland can make a big statement with three points given that they also have a game in hand on Newcastle. Steven Fletcher failed to make a big impact on international duty, but continues to thrive on the domestic scene since his move to Wearside.
Alan Pardew’s side have yet to record an away league win and the Black Cats are playing well enough at home to take all three points and the local bragging rights. At around 1.6 on BETDAQ, backing the home win looks the way to go.
