PREVIEW
Craig Levein takes his Scotland side to the United States to face Jurgen Klinsmann’s USA for only the second meeting in the two countries’ history, and the first time on American soil.
Since Klinsmann took over in July 2011 the US have played ten fixtures, eight of which ended 1-0. Of those matches, the Americans won half and they are coming into this clash on good form, winning their last four overall.
However, they face a Scotland side who have lost only one of their last seven, and that was to the reigning European and world champions, Spain. Levein has installed passion and organisation back into the national team and they are now a much tougher side to beat than in previous years.
Nevertheless, if Scotland are to keep a clean sheet in the EverBank stadium in Jacksonville, they will need to pay close attention to Clint Dempsey. The Fulham star, who scored 17 times for his side in the Premier League, has hit two in his last three for his country and poses a major threat to the Scottish defence.
Scotland have scored in each of their last seven fixtures. However, they haven’t managed more than two in a game since May 2011, ten matches ago.
With both teams boasting mean defences, a tight, low scoring contest should be expected. I would advise bettors to back under 2.5 goals at 1.84 on BETDAQ.
RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back under (2.5) goals at around 1.84 on BETDAQ: 7 points
