First the good news. Daniil Medvedev beat Alexei Popyrin in straight sets as advised. 8.2 points return on that one. But the ante-post portfolio has suffered with a 9 point overall loss on the Women’s tournament and only Djokovic surviving for us in the Men’s after Tsitsipas was knocked out and Medvedev himself knocked out by Stan Wawrinka in a five set thriller.
That makes the P&L on the column since it began (excluding Djokovic bet) now 32.36 points profit.

I am forecasting yet another surprise in the Women’s tournament as I think Anett Kontaveit can see off Simona Halep who is trading at around 1.44 to get through to to the semis which looks far too short.
I was far from convinced by Halep, despite her straight sets victory over Elise Mertens and think she could be vulnerable against the Estonian player Anett Kontaveit.
Halep holds a career 2-0 lead over Kontaveit with both prior meetings coming in 2017 on the clay surface of Rome and then the hard court at Miami. Both were comfortable successes for Halep but I think the gap between them may be a lot narrower now.
Kontaveit has reached this stage of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career and showed great resolution to rally from a set and a break down to beat Iga Swiatek 6-7 7-5 7-5, despite being broken twice when serving for the match.
Not a game for huge stakes but Kontaveit can make Halep think and a win bet is advised with an ‘insurance’ stake of Halep winning 2-1 in sets.
