MATCH POINT: Our tennis pundit MATCH POINT finished with a near 19 point profit in the Women’s tournament and now previews the Men’s Final on Sunday between Carlos Alcarez and Casper Ruud with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
In the end, I didn’t need the BETDAQ ‘insurance lay’ in the Women’s Final but it certainly made for more relaxed viewing.
Jabeur looked for a long time like levelling the match at 1-1 but Swiatek proved too strong in the tie-break and sealed it in two sets 6-2 7-6 to claim her third Grand Slam Title and her first away from Paris.
It left us with a net profit of 18.96 points after the BETDAQ trades in the Women’s tournament.
It’s not such good news in the Men’s tournament where none of the three selections have made the final, so we have a nine point deficit.
I was hopeful for Jannik Sinner at 18.0 on BETDAQ before he crashed out after a five set thrilling quarter final against now finalist Carlos Alcarez. The match set a new record for the latest finishing time – 2:50am !!
Carlos Alcaraz meets Casper Ruud in Sunday’s final in a real changing of the guard showdown which was hard to predict pre-tournament despite their rankings of 4 (Alcarez) and 7 (Ruud).
Apart from the considerable prize of a first Grand Slam title – either player will also become the World’s Number One player on the rankings.
The two have only met twice previously with Alcarez winning both encounters in straight sets on the clay in Spain and outdoor hard court in Miami.
I think this is one to keep simple. I strongly fancy Alcarez to become the youngest player (19) to win a major since his compatriot Nadal in 2005. He really does seem to be the complete package and whilst we’re not going to get rich at around 1.5 on BETDAQ I’m hoping we can boost the profit on the tournament with a 9 point win.
If he fails to win it will be a break even tournament (Mens/Womens) for MATCH POINT so no damage done.
