WEEK AHEAD: A cracking seven days of sport features Test Cricket, Champions League football and a huge Premier League clash.


Monday eases us into the week with South Africa and England expected to continue the third Test in the series from The Oval (11:00, Sky Sports).

Tuesday is more exciting as Tottenham travel to Sporting CP in the second game of their Champions League group stage campaign at 17:45 (BT Sport). Preston have a challenging game in the Championship at home to Burnley at 20:00 (Sky Sports) before the evening is dominated by the Champions League with the pick of the fixtures; Liverpool v Ajax and Rangers v Napoli both on BT at 20:00.

Shakhtar Donetsk v Celtic is the first of some intriguing matches in the Champions League on Wednesday (17:45, BT Sport), with the pick of the bunch, Man City v Dortmund, taking place at 20:00 (BT Sport). Will it be another successful evening for Erling Haaland and co.? Reading v Sunderland is the highlight in the Championship at 20:00 on Sky and is on at the same time as Chelsea’s clash with RB Salzburg, where Graham Potter will be looking to get into winning ways in charge of the Blues (BT).

The Italian Open gets Thursday into gear with its first day teeing off at 12:30 on Sky and the golf continues through the evening, with the Fortinet Championship’s first day underway at 17:30 also on Sky. Manchester United will look to make amends for their loss in their opening Europa League game and travel to Moldova to take on Sheriff Tiraspol at 17:45 (BT Sport) before Arsenal host PSV Eindhoven at 20:00 (BT) as they look to continue their fantastic start to the season. West Ham visit Silkeborg, and RFS host Hearts both on BT at 20:00.

Friday sets us up for a busy weekend with the Italian Open and Fortinet Championship both continuing on Sky (12:30, 17:30). The darts make a loud return with the World Series Finals kicking off at 18:00 on ITV and Northampton take on London Irish in the Premiership Rugby at 19:45 on BT with Aston Villa hosting Southampton in the Premier League at 20:00 (Sky).

The Italian Open continues on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 (Sky), and two big Premier League fixtures in Wolves v Man City and Tottenham v Leicester grace our screens, live on BT and Sky, respectively (12:30, 17:30). In the Championship, Swansea face Hull City and Middlesbrough host Rotherham (12:30, 19:45, Sky Sports) while the thrilling World Series of Darts continues at 18:00 on ITV. One of the rugby games of the year, Harlequins v Saracens, will be on BT from 15:00, and the Fortinet Championship enters its third day at 23:00 on Sky.

The Scottish Premiership throws up an exciting one in St Mirren v Celtic which kicks off Sunday at 12:00 (Sky Sports), and Man City travel to Aston Villa in the WSL (12:30, BBC) as their season gets going. There’s more golf as the Italian Open and Fortinet Championship tee off for their final days on Sky at 12:30 and 23:00, respectively. Can Arsenal get back to winning ways in a visit to Brentford (14:00, Sky) and who will emerge victorious in a clash of the titans, with a lot at stake for both sides in Chelsea v Liverpool (16:30, Sky Sports)? Meanwhile, Worcester host Exeter in the Premiership Rugby at 15:00 on BT, and the World Series of Darts Finals come to a dramatic close at 18:00 on ITV. Liverpool and Chelsea collide for the second time of the day though this time it’s in the WSL at 18:45 (Sky Sports).
