Promotion-chasing Hull have a tough ask tonight against a team, Burnley, that have become a real bogey team for the Tigers in recent years.
Burnley completed their seventh consecutive victory over Hull in the reverse fixture back in November and you have to go back to March 2008 for the last time the visitors took points off the Clarets.
The Tigers have only scored 21 goals in 26 league matches at Turf Moor and have only netted in two of the last ten encounters at any ground. Steve Bruce’s men have also lost their last three on the road but do boast an enviable record when scoring first, having won 17 and drawn one of the 18 league games in which they’ve struck first this season. They’ve also dropped just five points from leading positions.
Burnley have struggled of late, failing to win seven of their last eight matches, but continue to be a tough side to break down. They’ve only lost one of their last ten games by more than a single goal.
Hull know they need to step up their efforts on the road if they are to clinch promotion but Burnley clearly save their best for these rivals and it could well be a similar outcome once more.
