PREMIER LEAGUE SUNDAY: We preview Monday’s Premier League match between ASTON VILLA v NEWCASTLE with a recommended BETDAQ bet and extended match stats.

ASTON VILLA V NEWCASTLE

8pm Monday Night Football returns in the Premier League with Aston Villa hosting Newcastle. This is yet another big clash towards the bottom of the table, however Newcastle have been in great form lately and come into this clash off the back of two wins. They had been in the bottom three but they have really turned it around in recent weeks and it’s fair to say that they don’t look in danger of battling to stay in the Premier League. A midtable finish looks assured; while you couldn’t say the same about Aston Villa who need to pick up some points.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Aston Villa 2.16, Newcastle 3.85 and the draw is 3.55. Aston Villa look very short at 2.16! They have had a tough run of games having had to play Manchester City and Liverpool in their last three games. They actually nearly beat Liverpool here as they were leading with four minutes left but ended up losing. However we still feel that the 2.16 is a good value lay.

Since losing 5-0 to Leicester, Newcastle have really turned things around. They have beaten Manchester United, West Ham and Bournemouth while also picking up a draw against Wolves. They have really grinded out results and we fully expect them to make life difficult to Villa here. From a value point of view, we expect Newcastle to make this game a lot closer than odds of 2.16 suggest on Villa and we’re happy to lay the home side. Newcastle can continue their good form, and a loss for Villa would put them in a real relegation fight.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Aston Villa at 2.16.
