NAAS GOES AHEAD: This afternoon’s National Hunt fixture at Naas goes ahead as scheduled after the track passed an 8am inspection.

The naps sequence was busted last night as five in a row proved a bridge too far.

Ebadani was backed off the boards but proved a huge disappointment at Dundalk.

The good news today is that Naas is on. With the ground already described as heavy, officials were keen to check on conditions due the possibility of further rain overnight.

Clerk of the course Brendan Sheridan is pleased to report the ground remains raceable and has given the high-class card the green light.

He said: “We’re good to go. The ground is going to heavy and not ideal, but it’s been heavy at our last couple of meetings and the main thing is we’re raceable.

“We’ve had 10 millimetres of rain since Friday lunchtime, but it’s not raining at the moment and hopefully we won’t get any more.”

Solwhit should win the Limestone Lad Hurdle after his excellent reappearance at Punchestown on New Year’s Eve but keep an eye on the market here. He is already bigger than I expected on BETDAQ and any further weakness might even see him sent off odds against which might set alarm bells ringing.

In the second graded race of the day, the Woodlands Park 100 Club Novice Chase, Aupcharlie will be long odds-on but it was interesting to read my colleague Donn McClean’s view on the race on BETDAQ TIPS (CLICK HERE) and he makes the case for Tofino Bay. In any event Aupcharlie looks too short for me to get involved.

I’ll play the nap card in the opener at 1.00 on Morning Assembly. It’s a big field but he should outclass them judged on an excellent second to Sizing Gold at Leopardstown last time out.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Morning Assembly (1.00 Naas)
