THREE GRADE THREE’s: At Punchestown this afternoon – Shamrock looks at all of them.

Punchestown stage a good card this afternoon with three graded races – with small fields. Shamrock finds a NAP, next best and outsider from the three races.
2:45 Ryan’s Cleaning Events Specialists Hurdle (Grade 3): Just the five runners head to post here and with the exception of Toner D’Oudaires, who may be rusty after a 243 day absence, it’s an open looking early market on BETDAQ.
Sailors Warn and Steps To Freedom both bring winning form into the race. Sailors Warn made hard work of winning at odds-on at Limerick just four days ago and may find life tougher in this higher grade race.
Steps To Freedom looks a much bigger threat having romped home by eight lengths at Fairyhouse when long odds on. He had been running well on the flat and might have enough to scope to continue to improve over jumps and see off Jack Cool and Mackeys Forge who both have proven their ability at this level with decent, but not spectacular efforts.
3:45 Buck House Novice Chase (Grade 3): Lucky William is trading around 9 on the BETDAQ morning market which represents win and place value. He looked in good heart at Listowel last time out in a a Beginners Chase winning by eight lengths. That’s a misleading distance as Forjoetheplumber was upsides (but not going as well) jumping the last before unseating his rider.
Shinrock Paddy is the likely favourite and has a great career CV with six wins out of 10 but has an absence to overcome and a first sight of the larger obstacles in public.
4:15 Star ‘Best For Racing Coverage’ Chase (Grade 3): No awards for originality here but Forpadydeplasterer is not poor value at around 1.4 on BETDAQ to see off his two rivals here on his seasonal debut.
It will be interesting to see how his price fluctuates as the race draws closers as I think there will be plenty of people willing to lay. The fact he was pulled up on his last start, plus the fact that he has beaten in both of his last two seasonal reappearances.
However all that has to be taken alongside the context of today’s race and it would be hugely disappointing if he doesn’t start this campaign with a win given he his receiving weight from two inferior rivals here.
