KILLARNEY STAGE MARATHON CARD: Shamrock heads to Killarney for their eight race card that got the thumbs up after a morning inspection.
Good news that Killarney is on.
Good news that the Listed Vincent O’Brien Stakes from last night has been saved and is the first race on the card.
Bad news that the ground will be desperate ?
It’s not necessarily bad news though – we at least know where we stand before racing and one of the major problems with punting is changing ground.
The lottery factor with ground as testing as tonight is that few horses will have experienced it – so assumptions need to be made.
In the maiden at 4.45 Nurpur has been really costly to follow – she has gone off short in her four starts (including soft to heavy ground) and has been beaten at 7/4, 8/15, 15/8 and 5/2. She clearly looks one to take on again and Greek Goddess could be the one.
She showed plenty of promise on debut when fifth to Sinaniya over seven furlongs. The extra distance should suit and the ground was heavy in places that day so hopefully she will cope with the slightly worse ground tonight.
The opening Listed races looks really tricky and is a race I have to swerve.
Jolly Mac Vic showed promise over hurdles when runner-up on debut at Roscommon last week on soft ground. He switches back to the flat over a shorter trip but still looks the one to be on in the closing race.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Greek Goddess (4.45 Killarney)
NEXT BEST: Jolly Mac Vic (7.55 Killarney)
