23 Aug 2012, Europa League play-off, Hearts 0-1 Liverpool

PREVIEW
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has promised to field a strong side against Hearts this evening at Anfield and that should be enough to safely secure his team’s passage into the group stages of this year’s Europa League.

The Reds lead 1-0 after Andy Webster put through his own net at Tynecastle, but the result was a little harsh on Hearts who did themselves proud after losing 5-0 at home to Tottenham at the same stage of the competition 12 months ago.

It will be interesting to see just how many first teamers Rodgers selects, with another home game against Arsenal coming on Sunday, but even his second string would surely be too strong for Hearts in front of the Kop.

The markets agree, with the hosts trading at 1.21 on BETDAQ to win the second leg. The Jambos are about as unfancied as it gets in European fixtures, available at 19.0, while the draw can be backed at 7.4.

Liverpool impressed against Manchester City last weekend, when they should have beaten the Premier League champions, but they don’t need to push too hard to achieve a result here.

All things considered, it might be worth another look at the half-time/full-time market after yesterday’s success, with a small bet on the draw/Liverpool double result at 4.7.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back the draw-Liverpool HT/FT double result at around 4.7 on BETDAQ: 2.5 points

Wednesday: +8.82 points

AUGUST RETURN TO DATE: -28.40 points
