TUESDAY IPL: The Edge previews Qualifier 1: Royal Challengers Bengaluru v Gujarat Titans with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Qualifier 1: Royal Challengers Bengaluru v Gujarat Titans
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The IPL playoffs are here and what a way to kick them off on Betdaq Betting Exchange ! Royal Challengers Bengaluru host Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 at Dharamsala on Tuesday, and while the pressure is on and the stakes are high; I always feel this is an enjoyable fixture. The winner goes straight through to the Final, while the loser gets another chance via Qualifier 2 – it’s basically a free shot at the Final! These are the two form sides of this IPL, and we should have a cracking game. Both finished with 18 points and nine wins from fourteen games; it took net run rate to separate them and Sunrisers Hyderabad who also finished on 18 points.
RCB have been the team of the tournament. The defending Champions lost their Final game, but still managed to hang onto top spot with nine wins from fourteen games. Virat Kohli has been in sensational form all season – reaching 500 IPL runs for a record ninth time. The bowling has been equally impressive; Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have formed an excellent partnership. That being said, they did go for 255 in the final game against Sunrisers Hyderabad – however, Hyderabad is an exceptionally high scoring venue and obviously RCB knew they were through. Overall, they have been the best side in the tournament.
Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, have been the story of the second half of this tournament. They were inconsistent early on, but Shubman Gill’s side hit their straps at exactly the right time. They have the momentum coming into the Playoffs with six wins from their seven games. Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj have been the excellent bowling partnership, much like RCB have too. The top order is also flying too; this should be a very competitive high quality game!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We are at one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world in Dharamsala, set against the stunning backdrop of the Dhauladhar mountain range – it’s a bucket list venue for any cricket fans. Punjab Kings don’t play all their home games here anymore so we don’t have a huge volume of data in recent years. However, this has been a high scoring venue in IPL 2026, with three games having excellent batting conditions. The first inning scores have been 210/5 (chased), 200/8 (chased) and 222/4 (won). The altitude is an important factor – the thin mountain air carries the ball further and aids the big hitters. Pace bowlers do get something early on with the new ball, but once the shine goes it generally flattens out nicely for batting. It’s hard to see anything other than a high scoring game given the conditions we’ve had here lately.
RECOMMENDED BET:
We have a pretty competitive market here and that’s no surprise. RCB are the favourites at 1.89 with Gujarat Titans 2.1. Both sides carry enormous match winning talent; Kohli and Gill are two of the finest batters in the world right now, while the bowling attacks are similarly well matched. Both sides pretty much tick all the boxes. I do feel RCB’s batting depth gives them a slight edge, and they are the defending champions who know what it takes to win in these situations. I’d lean very slightly towards RCB but I’m keeping stakes low here; there’s plenty of match winners in both sides that can turn the game.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
The Dharamsala surface can offer something early for the seamers, and this is where the game could be decided given we have Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar on one side and Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj on the other. We have had three high scoring games here this season though, so it’s hard not to expect another 200+ game. Two of those scores were chased down though, and with a possible heavy dew we could still have the best bowling conditions in the opening six overs of the game. After that though, it seems you want to be on the batters – both sides have the firepower to post big totals.
