NAPS HAT-TRICK BID AT SLIGO: Shamrock followed up Monday’s winning nap Emotional Dream WON 6/4 with Miliika WON 1/2 on Tuesday. Today he heads to the North West and the evening card at Sligo.
It’s just about an equine full house at Sligo this evening, the maximum 19 runners declared for each of the first six races on the card.
There’s still some soft in the going description and if the weather forecasts prove correct we won’t be seeing that for some time.
The best bet on the card may well come in the opening maiden hurdle at 5.40. The Noel Meade trained Johannisberger stands out in a race high on numbers but short on depth.
Certainly you would think a reproduction of his half length second to the odds-on Back To Ballloo at Down Royal last time out should easily be good enough. He was only caught on the run-in that day and the front two finished comfortably clear in a big field. We are looking at around 2.2 on BETDAQ which looks fair enough considering the paucity of opposition – the chief market rivals have had many more chances than Johannisberger without success.
It was hard not to be impressed with Glens Melody who won a Punchestown bumper in style on debut and she should outclass recent course winner Cullentry Royal in the closing flat race.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Johannisberger (5.40 Sligo)
NEXT BEST: Glens Melody (8.40 Sligo)
