TWO OUT OF TWO: SHAMROCK had a good day yesterday when his win and place nap was second at 8/1 in the Kerry National and his next best Riven Light WON at 11/8.

Two out of two yesterday but just half a length away from landing the jackpot with Arkwrisht who was 2nd at 8/1 in the Kerry National – we collected on the win and place nap but were unlucky as well as the rider lost his irons close home.

Another mixed card at Listowel on Thursday starting at 2.05pm and again the going is heavy.

The benefit of experience and setting a fair form standard swings me towards Solo Saxophone in the 1m 4f maiden at 3.15pm in preference to the Joseph O’Brien trained flat debutant West Coast Time.

Solo Saxophone, a son of Frankel, has finished third in both his starts (on soft ground) at Roscommon and at Tipperary last time where he wasn’t beaten far. Dermot Weld puts the blinkers on for the first time.

West Coast Time makes his flat debut but won a bumper at Cork on soft ground and finished 13th in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in March. He might prove too classy for these, however I fear the trip may prove on the sharp side today.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Solo Saxophone (3.15 Listowel)
