DAQMAN MAKES A POINT AT 7-2: Daqman had a 30-point hit with Lahore (WON 7-2) at Doncaster yesterday but, after praising Potters Point, he swerved the Kerry National winner because of the ground, and got just Viva Steve (4th 12-1) in the frame. The Daqman v Pricewise score remains at 71-15. Today: 2.00, 2.25 and 3.35 Doncaster.

SUPER NAP IN HAT-TRICK BID: Daqman’s new-style banker bet, the Super Nap, which has landed two out of two since its inception last week, goes for a hat-trick today at Listowel.

LASS VEGAS FOR LADBROKES RACE

3.50 Listowel Claimer Killian Leonard, who’s had a winner a day at Listowel so far, must be fancied for a personal three-day hat-trick on Oiche Mhaith Boy, despite his lay-off.

Killian was the five-year-old’s jockey for the middle leg of a treble at Gowran last season, when he was ridden clear on heavy ground. Thankyou, and Good Night Boy! Offers of 7.2 early mouse on BETDAQ.

5.20 Listowel (Ladbrokes Ireland Handicap Hurdle) Horses aged five and six have won seven times in the decade, and are strongly represented today, though the bottom pair are out of the handicap, Timi Roli by 2lb and The Irregular 10lb.

Timi Roli was heralded as a future star, and I played up the stable vibes by putting him in this column’s Fortune Cookies’ list. I was disappointed that he didn’t break his maiden until July.

But, as so often with these talking horses, he could yet come good, though the handicapper has him on 123 for the fifth consecutive race, as if to tell us that he has made zero improvement over hurdles since the Spring.

The answer may lie in jockey Ruby Walsh’s observation: ‘I love the way he jumps and he’ll win a few chases.’

So, I should be patient until next year over the big fences. But I can’t resist a pound at 14.5. Horses to follow always win if you leave them alone.

Cheekpieces then a hood (retained today) have squeezed two wins out of Davids Charm but the four and five furlongs drop back in trip is a worry for today, though should be coming home well.

Timiyan has improved for a tongue-tie since leaving Dermot Weld and joining Gordon Elliott but this is quite a climb to Grade B.

Lagostovegas was third in two big handicaps at the Galway Festival and is up 12lb. Ruby again: ‘She’s a fine, big mare and very progressive.’

In one of those handicaps, this big lass was a head behind Swamp Fox, giving that one 7lb., but is in receipt of stone today, allowing Swamp Fox’s jockey full benefit from his 5lb claim.

Since, for all his massive weight deficit, Swamp Fox is second favourite this morning, the 3.3 Lagostovegas is super nap value.

PARK YOUR POUNDS ON DUBKA..

2.25 Doncaster (May Hill Stakes) Winners of this in 2008 and 2010 went on to take the Fillies Mile at the big Ascot meeting later in the month.

That’s where Laurens, Nyaleti, Sizzling and Tajaanus are headed with, currently, Nyaleti – a 4.2 offer on BETDAQ as I write – off 113, well clear on the ratings.

Only two fillies since 2010 have had form solid enough to warrant a rating and they won this off 104 and 108., though thus far Nyaletihas not looked to stay a mile.

All bar Sizzling of the four Mile contenders has been first or second in a Group 3 already. She languishes on 87 having won only a modest maiden and looks a Ballydoyle marker, reasonably well exposed after five runs.

I’m going with 6.0 offer Tajaanus who travels well, hits a bit of a flat spot, then surges to the line. He often carries a lot of condition and I think he can improve again.

3.00 Doncaster (Park Hill Stakes) Four-year-olds are beating three-year-olds 4-3 in recent seasons, and the Classic generation may depend again on last year’s winning trainer Ralph Beckett (Simple Verse) with Melodic Motion.

Main defence for the four-year-olds could lie with 5.5 BETDAQ offer Dubka, who was a bit unlucky to get mugged in the mud at Goodwood but Melodic Motion was only a neck away third, Natural Scenery just a length back fourth and with Wild Irish Rose (hampered, switched) in fifth.

3.35 Doncaster Low numbers swept the board on the straight course yesterday but all the Group-entered two-year-olds in this have double-figure st alls!

There were strong tips flying around last night for Tangled and Laugh A Miunute, which looks big at 16.0 BETDAQ this morning from a three draw. Laugh A Minute ran up to the subsequent Acomb winner so could be let off lightly.

On York form, there’s not much at the weights now t split Tangled, Great Prospector and Alba Power. But Great Prospector (strong at 5.1 this morning) is the one entered up and, after only three runs, the likely improver.

3.10 Epsom Following yesterday’s theatricals at Doncaster with the Leger Legends (won by Brian Harding), today is the Jump Jockeys’ Derby, with Jamie Moore one of the few NH boys to be able to ride a Flat finish.

He’s won this twice in the last four years and Altaayil at 9.8 is worth a pound, likely to try to make all. And show them all up for pace nous. Say no more!
