SHAMROCK MAKES IT 8 WINNING NAPS FROM 11: SHAMROCK made it 8 winning naps from the last 11 at the Curragh yesterday with a ‘skinny’ one. He heads to Navan tonight for their card which includes the Listed Salsabil Stakes.

Michaelmas won but sorry about the price.

It was always going to be short but I wasn’t quite expecting 2/9. Still, it extends the run of winning naps and only three have been odds-on in the current run of 8 winners from 11.

The current sequence of NAPS is:

Tue 23 April MOYLE PARK (NAP) WON 7/4
Fri 26 April UN DE SCEAUX (NAP) WON 5/4
Sat 27 April DIAKALI (NAP) WON EVENS
Sun 28 April SHARP CRISP AIR (NAP) 2nd
Tue 30 April KANDINSKI (NAP) 2nd
Wed 1 May STUCCODOR (NAP) WON EVENS
Thu 2 May BAINNE (NAP, place) 6th
Fri 3 May MAJENTA (NAP) WON 100/30
Sat 4 May LIVING NEXT DOOR (NAP) WON 8/11
Sun 5 May HOLD THE LINE (NAP) WON 4/11
Mon 6 May MICHAELMAS (NAP) WON 2/9

* on days in between there was either no NAP or it was a non runner

It was great to see Camelot back to winning ways at the Curragh yesterday.

Winning trainer Aidan O’Brien said after the race: “We’re delighted. He had massive colic surgery over the winter and it was his first time back so you’re never sure. It was major open surgery, and after the surgery is a massive time. He went to Coolmore and was not with us for months. I was surprised at the shape he was in when he came back – that surgery is massive and we are lucky to have him.”

As for future plans he said: “The Tattersalls Gold Cup is the plan, you’d imagine there’s plenty of improvement. The plan was always to come here, the Tattersalls and the Prince Of Wales’s at Royal Ascot but we’ll take it one race at a time.”

Navan have the quality racing on Tuesday and in the Salsabil Stakes at 7.05 the O’Brien team will be hoping of further success with Magical Dream who is comfortably the best horse in this race on official ratings.

It’s fair to say her 4th to Sky Lantern in the Moyglare Stakes at the Curragh looks even smarter after the weekend success of Richard Hannon’s filly in the 1000 Guineas and the good late work she did on that day suggests she should be suited by the extra trip which would be the only question mark if you are backing her as she appears to handle all ground conditions.

Alive Alive Oh looked good when winning at Cork and fully deserves the step-up in class. She could be a big danger but the proven form is most definitely with Magical Dream.
