WEDNESDAY AT THE CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL: A good start for SHAMROCK on Tuesday when his day one NAP and only bet Honeysuckle was an impressive winner of the Champion Hurdle at 11/10.
Nice to make a winning start to the 2021 Cheltenham Festival with the wondermare Honeysuckle running out an impressive six and a half length winner of the Champion Hurdle.
It was a stunning victory for the Henry de Bromhead trained runner who made her move under Rachael Blackmore around the home turn and it proceed a decisive one.
It’s now 11 straight wins for the mare and who would back against her repeating the feat next season?
Elsewhere, there were wide and narrow margin wins respectively for the Irish trained Appreciate It in the opening Supreme and Black Tears getting up on the line to win the Mares’ Hurdle.
The shock of the day came from 80/1 Jeff Kidder in the Boodles Handicap Hurdle and the finale went to Co Antrim trainer Ian Ferguson with the remarkable Galvin who made it five wins on the spin.
A great opening day and we get to watch it all again on Wednesday. Don’t forget CHELTENHAM 0% COMMISSSION ON BETDAQ all this week !!
Again, I’m sticking to the one tip strategy but avoiding the obvious calls of Bob Olinger, Monkfish, Chacun Pour Soi and Easysland all of which should take a great deal of beating on what should be another great day for Ireland.
Instead I will wait for the Champion Bumper at 4.50pm which looks a race packed to the brim of future stars. The Willie Mullins trained Kilcruit and Sir Gerhard head the BETDAQ market and they both come here on the back of impressive wins.
Kilcruit was impressive when winning a Grade 2 bumper at Leopardstown with ridiculous ease and might just prove too smart for Sir Gerhard who won a Listed race at Navan (when trained by Gordon Elliott) to remain unbeaten.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Kilcruit (4.50 Cheltenham)
